You may be rightYep, Drakes primary audience is now Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed followers, businesswise it makes sense as the youth are the biggest consumers of music especially in this streaming climate.

Couple years ago Drake's music was introspective as hell to me
Im not one of these nerd nikkaz talm bout some "Drake aint lyrical drake sucks"
I actually think Drake is one of the more talented rappers in recent history......
But damn...maybe its cuz I'm 31 and Im outta the targeted demographic.
I guess maybe that's why his music has been sounding childish...
Remind me of the coliseum Tom Brady thread. Went on for 11 years until he eventually fell off at 45It’s been close to 15 years already

Wait, what?and serena a strong blk woman...nobody wanna deal with that.
....wait WHAT?!When drake made the “dancehall rap” wave popular in the US....
I don't think the content is the issue. If you want to rap about being rich and having fun that's fine. The issue is moreso the nonstop, endless resentment and pettiness in his music. Taking shots at Rihanna, disrespecting Esperanza Spalding, taking shots at Serena's husband. This is just wild behavior for a man who is nearly 40. Then you add in the complete inability to evolve his sound beyond riding waves. Barring whatever trend he's hopping on, it's the same melodies and flows.
Kanye made Yeezus when he was Drake's age. I see zero interest in pushing the envelope, changing the sound, or making a masterpiece like a Kanye. I thought Kendrick missed on his last album overall but at least there's an attempt to constantly push forward and explore as an artist. You can do all those things while still making brag raps. Drake clearly has no interest in doing it and I doubt he has the talent to.
I like toxic Drake. I’ve become a fan of his in the last year or so. The old vulnerable Drake who would croon about past relationships from a longing and opining and loving standpoint, made for painfully boring music to me. This bitter, chaotic take no prisoners Drake is entertaining. Not sure if he has a compelling enough story, or creativity to really push himself more. He has told his come up. He has rapped about his current life. Someone like Jay felt pretty creatively stalled after The Blueprint 2/The Black Album, Kingdom Come was an attempt to break out, and only kinda worked.
Nas is just someone who is a little more weird and dark, and pushed himself into creative zones, with his own life and imagination. Someone like Pac just led that wild of a life, where his real life was spilling so much into the music, the content just kept coming. If he lived, who knows where he would have ended up? Every artist with 10 or 20 years in, is going to hit rough spots. Nas with HHID. Jay with Kingdom Come, and those came roughly 10-12 years into their careers.
Drake just isn't that person, and raps his own life, but he also doesn't lead with depth or vulnerability anymore. What felt deeper and more vulnerable in 2011, isn't anymore. It's like Jay with the drug talk. He got a lot of criticism for that. Still does. He leads with kind of resentment and chip on his shoulder. Sounds like Jay on The Blueprint 2, ironically.
Wayne to me, lost that battle 15 years ago, and never matured. Hence his music hasn't evolved at all. Some would disagree, but he's been stuck since 2008/2009.
These are our great artists.
Simp records masqueraded as introspection is boring. You may be right
