Yo, in order for Drake to cement his super star status, one of these other dude's from OVO Sound need to blow up as well. The boy is always doing the numbers but his crew isn't, unfortunately. :francis:

The talented is there, the music is there but none of these cats are popping right now. I hope that changes very soon.

This isn't a zero sum game. Their success can only help his success. OVO Sound needs to start diversifying its priorities and throw these other dudes a bone when it comes to promo. And they need to realize that what works for Drake rarely works for others.

Drake doesn't have to do any kind of media to put up numbers. All he gotta do is put up a link and the albums fly off the shelves for him. However, up and coming artists need to a more traditional means of promotion to make it.

No lie, I only heard about Roy Woods and DVSN after Drake posted about them on IG a few weeks ago. :francis: And I feel like, they aren't doing much with PND either even though he's the one most likely to blow up right now....but it's definitely not a definite.

It's time to give the keys to one of these young boys to carry the wave, Papi. :beli:

Drake is in the same category as Milli Vanili...In Hip Hop you are REQUIRED to write your own rhymes to be in the GOAT argument...

Drake makes good music or his fans the same way Milli Vanili did...We accept that...And that's his legacy...

He is not in the same bracket as 2Pac, Eminem, Jay Z, Nas Biggie, DMX and etc...Dude should be compared to NSync, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Flo Rida, Pittbull and the likes...

The most iconic Hip Hop artist in the world :wow:
Not saying Drake will ever be Kanye status but Kanye will go down as more important to black music than Eminiem or even DMX. and not just as a producer...as a maker of excellent music and excellent rap albums.

Drake is a crab and he doesn't want anybody shining brighter then him. Hence the reason Byron and Abel left him. Who wants to be star entertainer with their own music and style and be forced to write hits for their boss while they barely get any credit?

Lmao people just make up their own versions of the truth for their own agendas/arguments. Your version of events very different from the one I heard from Bryson on a podcast recently.

Weeknd also fukked with Drake after he signed elsewhere.

This is the part where folks always get it wrong. You can't "give" anybody the "wave", they've gotta take it or themselves. You can put people in a position to succeed or reach their potential but they (and luck) ultimately defines what that potential will be. Some people just don't have that "it" factor.

Kanye is a pop icon...

(1) Look at how HUGE Michael Jackson was, but I have NEVER heard Black People making arguments about "the importance of Michael Jackson for Black Music"...Kanye like Michael has crossed the line...Kanye's music is "black" only because of the color of his skin...

(2) Kanye has had VERY LITTLE influence on Black Music...PAY ATTENTION...Kanye has had a HUGE influence on what is considered Hip Hop, but his influence on Black Music in general has been very MINIMAL...

Where is the Kanye sound? He popularized the resurgence of sampling techniques that were already pioneered and perfected by many beatmakers before him, and that is it, AS FAR AS INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC...

(3) The fact that you are even considering Kanye as a pioneer of Black Music just shows how much Rap Music has DRAINED Black Musicianship...You CANNOT compare Kanye to guys like Isaac Hayes, Smokie Robinson, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Lil Richard, Robert Johnson, Louis Armstrong, Barry White, and many more...

If you do, it just another sign of of how Hip Hop is moving Black People away from musical skills...

(4) Kanye to me is like those Asian dudes who take a stock Honda Civic and sup it up, I can appreciate the artistic expression in that...But I will NOT compare them to mechanics who actually know how all the parts fit and work together, and even further, I will not compare the mechanics to the engineers who know and design the science behind the machine...

There is no reason that a person cannot be all 3 the guys who sups it up, the guy who knows how the parts fit, and the guys who understands the science that makes possible...

I just DOUBT that Kanye is that guy...

Kanye has proven to be a great internal decorator and landscape artist, but he is NOT the architect...That's why he spent $53Ms trying to be a fashion designer, he knows that is his lane...
