Drake’s struggle as an up and coming rapper was “scraping” together 5K. He trying too hard?

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
if im not mistaken, the degrassi salary was like ~60k/a year, thats a pretty median 9-5 type annual salary (45-60k)

if he had other bills and was the sole income between him and his moms, then 5k for a luxury rental for the sake of image may come at the expense of sacrificing other things

i dont think this implies he was living in poverty lol, just that this is a "fake it till u make it" type origin story for the lifestyle
nikka there’s mad grown ass adults that ain’t making 60k a year at they job. Prolly like 70% of men in the US ain’t making that. This kid was a teenager. Lol

Let's be reality, if a D-Boy from Memphis was making the same money selling drugs the energy would be different and he would be celebrated. Don't get me wrong Drake came from a middle class background but being the breadwinner in your family as a teenager, there is still a level of pressure to that.

He don't even understand how stupid he sounds
underrated post
he just doesn't get it
and never will, no matter who he surrounds himself with, and what accent he speaks with.

He's sheltered from reality to the point where he can be whoever he wants. But every now and then, we'll see cracks in his persona and comments like this that show who he really is lol

For the record, there's nothing wrong with being a child actor, and having 5k to spend on a rental car. The issue is him being a try-hard and not being authentic to himself.

This is terrible logic as the guy from Memphis would've been dealt a far worse hand in life than a child actor from the suburbs of Canada.

People respect individuals that prevail, despite the odds being against them.

Drake obviously knows this which is why he's always trying to convince people he's struggled. Unfortunately for him it's not believable.

I'm not disagreeing with this. Drake's struggle is exagerrated but making it like he was always rich is just as dishonest is all I'm saying.

Yeah but the sole reason people are making it seem like he was always rich....is he's trying to make it seem like he struggled.:mjlol:

It's not as if people are randomly starting threads talking about :damn: "Drake ain't from the mud!"

He's always tried to make it seem like he's had it harder than he actually has. Which is why people point out he was a hell of a lot closer to being rich, than struggling.

Drake was already writing for Dre in 07. He was in the industry already

I get it. Can we all agree though he started somewhere in the middle.

Not really, no.:mjlol:

I mean....objectively, at the very least, he was upper middle class. He was making more as a teenager than the average yearly wage for a house hold in Canada.

Couple that with the fact that most of this board is American, where the living conditions are far worse than literally anywhere in Canada....you won't find many people that would think he's middle class.

60k canadian is like $47k btw

but yes i know and agree, all i pointed out was i took it as a "fake it till u make it" (as opposed to i was in poverty - which obviously was not the case lol) post, its not that deep :manny:
