No vaccine = more people infected = more variants.

Vaccine = less people infected = less variants.

See polio, measles, smallpox, etc.

Did you not understand what I wrote? There was no vaccine, which gave the first virus time to mutate. Now that there are both mutations and vaccines, it's a matter of catch up in which the vaccines will lag behind. It had nothing to do with people not wanting to get a shot. Like it has been with the flu for decades.

That same flu y'all never bothered to pressure people into vaccinating against (and likely most of y'all yourselves aren't vaccinated against) even as people are beginning to get infected with it again and dying from it as we speak. Which today could end up being counted as a covid death if they happen to test positive for that.

It's the entire point.

Any disease can be responsible for all those things, but not every disease requires a vaccine, and not every vaccine for a disease needs to have a mandate -- it's only when "infections, deaths and hospital overloads" surpass a threshold that the latter is put into action, which is the case for COVID, which hasn't been the case for the common flu, in the context of what is occurring right now. Reaching for the branch of influenza being responsible for 25+ million deaths over 100 years ago is falling from the top of the tree into a void and reappearing at the top of the tree again.

You do realize if the common flu had that type of impact, where millions and millions of deaths were happening during a calendar year, during our lifetime, there would eventually be a mandate for vaccination, right?

That makes a lot of sense.

I wouldn't expect anything less from someone that drowns himself in anti-vax rhetoric to then aimlessly take a meme, based on something that was never even stated, because folks couldn't address the actual argument (i.e. taking a lie and believing it to be true as fodder to feed your cognitive dissoance).

:manny:

So what is this magic threshold y'all keep holding onto? Killing 80000 people is ok but killing 350000 makes you a monster? Do you know what a moral principle is? Or is this 2 is bigger than 1 rhetoric the last stronghold of you FB sheep?

And you think remaining unvaccinated will stop the virus from mutating?

I don't care about the virus mutating. We cannot stop that realistically.

I do know isolating people in groups is a hotbed for creating mutations so if that's really what you cared about you wouldn't ban unvaccinated people from social life. Lockdowns allow mutations to thrive whereas natural spread among healthy adults with low risk is a way to increase herd immunity.

A magic threshold?

Why even ask this when you know the answer to the question? Is it because you want to play dumb because you can't address my argument properly? Or is it because you want to play dumb to continue getting bites on this contrarian act of yours?

The common flu hasn't reached a point for that kind of intervention in our lifetime, so it doesn't make sense to use it as reference point for why there's no mandate for the vaccine. Continuing to spam the est. numbers of deaths during one year, when estimates for the previous two years prior to that are 38k and 23k only further exposes your agenda, as if it wasn't already apparent. Not to mention, not even referencing the number of comparative cases.

- There were 20 million confirmed cases of COVID last year, with around 350k deaths.

Now, every single year, except 2011, over the last decade, the common flu has exceeded the amount of COVID cases, yet has only resulted in a fraction of the deaths. Take the final year before COVID hit us, where we had nearly double the amount of influenza cases, yet it only resulted in 22k deaths, which is only 6% of the total deaths that COVID claimed last year, which if we were to take it further, would be around 3-4% in the adjustment for comparative cases.

Only 3-4%* of influenza cases resulted in death in 2019, in comparison to COVID cases-deaths in 2020.

And to take it even further, there were no lockdowns, no mandatory mask-wearing, no social distancing, no folks taken extra precaution of looking after themselves and not spreading whatever illness they might have had in 2019. Now, imagine if we existed without those conditions in 2020, like we did with influenza the year prior.

We'd be talking about millions of deaths during a calendar year. It'd be death by the COVID sword, making influenza looking like a paper cut.

Ask you a simple question and you just link a bunch of random bullshyt. Some manifesto from a cac Reddit poster :mjlol:

I actually watched the videos though. So specifically what part of those videos flies in the face of something you read in this thread? What exactly led you to say “The US school system must be garbage if there's this many people that don't understand how a vaccine works.and where is that statement backed up in any of these videos?

the first video should have provided a sufficient explanation but I provide more sources of information.
I didn't say that but I don't disagree with that assertion either. :ld:

critical thinking skills is clearly lacking for a lot of the general population.:francis:

The exact words in the first video stated: “The B cells can produce the correct antibodies right away, preventing the virus from spreading and making you sick

This vaccine is doing neither. It is, at best at this point, preventing severe illness and hospitalization/death.
