I have a friend who is damn near 40 and still has braids all the time and has a perfect hairline

A lot of you cats who lose your hairline and had braids blame it on the braids from years ago. Did you guys ever ask yourself whether your hairline would still push back if you just had a regular fade?

It's genetics. You're just finding a scapegoat to blame it on your past braids

I have dreads down to my ass and they're heavy as fukk. I 98% of the time have them bundled and lightly wrapped in a scarf or in tam.. original rastas knew what they were doing.

and yes retwisting/designer dreads will destroy your scalp. I haven't had a retwist in years.

Not sure on the science of it but a close friend of mine experienced hair loss after having locs, now he’s bald.

A woman I know came out and said she has alopecia of w/e. She said it came from locs but she styles it to cover it up. Part of the game I guess

Only way locs would damage your hair is if you getting them retwisted too often. And locs do not make your hair heavy unless your ass has extensions in them. And if you worried about losing your hairline while getting your hair braided or having locs, trust me if you get this it just means you losing your hairline is hereditary.:scust:

You are still supposed to spot clean if you don't do a full wash every week. That person did a bad job keeping them clean and they retwisted too often or too tight. That's why if you zoom in the first photo you'll see grayish-white buildup. If you look at the bottom left locs you can tell when they retwisted due to individual locs becoming thin, normal thickness, and thin again.

That second photo ain't no improvement they just cut the locs off and combed the loose hair after washing:mjlol:

I've had locs for 9 years and my crown is only slightly thinning, but I think that's moreso heriditary. I use minoxidil once a day so that's probably keeping me away from the Norwood reaper too

Dudes be trying to keep up with these athletes and rappers. That pretty boy manicured shyt. Dreads weren't ment to be that.
Thank you! I tell dudes all the time before they embark on the journey that this ain't no pretty boy hairstyle. If you want to keep your locs and/or hairline intact you got to bush that retwisting every two weeks or once a month shyt.
