Though I don’t get retwisted once every month and shyt….I don’t might having new growth fuzz…in fact I think I prefer it to that freshly twisted scalp all exposed look
You got dreads? How often do you retwist them?

Right now prolly once every 3-4 months

But I’m at the stage where they as long as my waist so the roots aren’t really the focus anymore…I usually always have a beanie or loc tube on at all times these days

Never noticed it when i had locs but after i cut them i could tell the sides of my hairline ain't been the same since. Shawty was nice with the styles but would twist the hair like her life depended on it :russ:

Don't regret it though, haven't had my locs for over a decade but my hair def doesn't grow like it used to... might just be :flabbynsick:

8 years with locs. I get a retwist every 2-3 months. Line and hair perfectly fine, but I stopped getting styles a year after they touched my shoulders.

lol that shyt really hurts your scalp and is painful

It’s usually the weight of the long locs that cause the tension and tightly pulling it back in styles and ponytails. Maintenance for locs is so easy and infrequent that they are a great style for anyone. Y’all just need to watch out for all these new “locticians” who only care about aesthetics and not health, then sell you on loc repair services after they ruined your hair from popping the roots to get clean parts.

All true.

Had braids hunnid years ago.. i know it pulled my line back..

Got locs now and I braid them.. you can tell from the thickness of each loc when I started to braid them :francis:

But it looks so fire :noah::banderas:...

My stylist was like.. thelonious.. :usure: this shyt goin start fukking your hair up you keep coming monthly

So I'm on month 2 of no re twist or anything. :sadcam:
I figured every 90 days should be a long enough time
Smh had dreads 6 years only had 10 retwists if that. Got braided 2 times. They loved me even more lol

I could’ve sworn people said that braids and locks help your hair grow faster. Now y’all saying it can cause you to go bald??

If they braids are too tight, they will cause breakage, people don't grow their hair out long enough before they first get braided because they wanna hurry up and get braids

it also depends on the style of dreads, I mean you have old people with gray dreads down their back and full hairlines, people just go bald because they going bald
