Stic.man Addresses Nas Ghostwriting Rumors | Complex

"But for me I was just a white belt that answered the call for a session with a master of the craft. And I assisted where it was requested with ideas, beats and some writing."

like i said, he didn't hand him songs, but it clearly says WRITING.

and here he describes a little more detail:

"I just feel like the people who are saying different things about the process of how that record was created I’m wondering, where were you at? To be totally honest, me and M1 went to Cali at the request of Nas. And we would be in the studio together working on stuff with nobody else there except Nas, who would come in and leave... It’s gone from the collaboration that we did with Nas, which involved producing, idea exchanging and writing hooks, which is one thing, to us being ghostwriters.

To me, ghostwriting, as far as I know, is hiring somebody to write words for you to actually say. That didn’t happen… were there to work in general: production, writing and ideas to help develop some of the songs on the album.

Even some of the songs we gave input on, in terms of hooks and phrases, it was Nas’ vision in terms of knowing what he wanted… Nas was the director. It was his vision on everything. My job was simple: can you help make this happen whether it was music or concepts. The only thing is they didn’t want [the standard] dead prez/Nas collaboration. They didn’t want to have me and M on the record with Nas. We were there as producers and collaborators.

People don’t understand what [traditional] producing is. I’m kind of still like, “Wow.” I’m trying to understand what’s the big deal and where it’s coming from. It’s weird."

People providing bars, hooks, song ideas, etc. is common. You see people get writing credits for things like that all the time. 'Ye provided Hov with the hook & bridge for Lucifer. If Stic wrote songs for Untitled then he wrote better shyt for Nas than he did for himself. But like it's been said already: she threw dirt on Nas, while trying to give an excuse for Hov for why he doesn't take risks with his music as you would hope someone with his influence would do. Why did she have to throw that out there? To defend Hov? It backfired. Simple as that. And all she had left was to throw out the sexist card. Now you're done with Hip-Hop? People have "done with Hip-Hop for how long? FOH with that.

whats the most hilarious is how she talking like nas never spit a revolutionary based track until untitled acting as if nas stole stic man steez or some shyt.

if thats the case what was all that "what you trying to kick knowledge" talk was for?

wasnt he the "rap version of td jakes, prophesizing on the cds and tapes"?

now he stole dead prez swag lol

I'd be surprised if she even heard the ****** album more than once. Said it before, she was tryna play Nas on some "Go home and get your shinebox, its the Roc" shyt. Same way they used to do in the magazine articles...

But thanks to the internet, Nas' stanbase is a little stronger than it used to be, so she folded. Now shes screaming Rape... :childplease: (don't ask me how)

that sums it up perfect.. she really was trying to say that the reason jay-z doesn't have deep songs is because he doesn't fly people in to think up concepts. she coulda said that... where nas' name came from i really have no idea except to try to shyt on him and make jay seem better.

but that's dumb cause him and kanye i'm sure did all of the same things for watch the throne. matter of fact jay said he let kanye do it all and he just sat back and did his parts

She had the nerve to tweet "Jay writes what believes" or some shyt like that, as if Nas doesn't. As if Nas never wrote socially conscious songs, & then all of a sudden he had an idea to start doing so & thus the ****** album. I'm a huge Jay fan but :rudy:

im a jay fan too.

i just be pointing out how silly this sounds

nas aint some guy who only got 2 albums and been out only a few years

nas been doing this since 91

worked and been in the studio with every credible artist anyone can think of.

none of these guys have dared to come with this accusation

yet this no name chick comes out of nowhere and nas haters "want" to believe her. they hoping she correct. that is just sad.

the the criteria gets so silly. so if said artist got help with a hook or a bridge he had a ghostwriter? well then everybody has had a ghost writer. cause every artist has had someone else write a hook for their record. or add a element to a bridge to add to the record. that goes even into artist like prince or bobby womack or michael jackson. bobby womack came up with "if you think you lonely now" from a argument he heard a friend had with his ex girl. does that mean the friend who said it that inspired the concept is bobby womack ghostwriter? whats even dumber is how no one knows what a ghostwriter is no more. its pitiful to choke on small shyt to discredit nas.
