Call PlayStation dominant when Nintendo has sold 152 million Switch 1's brehs
Nintendo's core customer is markedly different than PlayStation's core customer and the parts of their audience that overlap don't care about buying both pieces of hardware. What one company does doesn't really impact the other much. They each dominate their target demographic.

You think PlayStation would create a Wii u like tablet in the Portal if they didn’t want to emulate Nintendo’s success with the switch? :skip: if they weren’t targeting the same demographics would PS bother with Astro bot or sackboy.

Don’t forget immediately after the Wii they dropped the ps move with the same remote like peripheral they just didn’t have any compelling software to take advantage of of move.

They tried the handheld market multiple times and their only success was the og psp. Yet they want to jump back in.

As the law of diminishing returns gets smaller and smaller people will have less of reason to get ps consoles other than exclusives.

Every console manufacturer wants to sell more consoles than the competition even if the competition is releasing weaker hardware that can be played everywhere.

It’s like saying Tesla doesn’t compete with BMW because BMW mostly specialises in petrol cars even though bmw has an EV range too.

You do realize they went from selling 154m DS and 100m Wii's to just selling 152m Switches yeah?

And that the Wii U was the main competitor for the PS4 and they got their ass whopped so bad they combined their handheld and console divisions?

Worst Sony console did 80m.... Wii U 13.5m, Gamecube 21.7m, N64 33m.

I’m talking about this gen

Also the Vita did just as bad as the Wii U so Sony decided not to continue their handheld division.

And if by some measure you’re saying that combining the handheld and console division makes the switch sales a fluke, then what can be said about those who bought the PS2 because it was a cheap dvd player.

PlayStation Portable
PlayStation Vita
PlayStation Allstars
Modnation Racer
Sixaxis controller
PlayStation Move

There was a time that Sony tried to compete directly with Nintendo. In around the PS3 era they abandoned all that. The only reason PlayStation is considering portables at all is the Steam Deck's success. Has nothing to do with Nintendo who has been making portables since the 80s.

As successful as Pokémon has been where's PlayStation's version of that? Where's the Sony Mario Kart competitor on the PS5 with all their IP characters? Where's their Mario Party with the same? Where is Nintendo's Last of Us competitor or God of War reeboot competitor?

Their target customers are entirely different and whatever overlap exist ask the Switch owners here how many of them also own a PS5 or vice versa. People have no problem buying both.

So I'm skimming this thread and all I see is a WHOLE BUNCH OF STUPID and I'm certain most of it is intentional.
I would like to point out a few of these instances for shaming purposes...
Nobody taking y'all seriously 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Switch standalone as a console would be trash. It's used primarily portably. We all know this. It's classified as a hybrid portable for a reason. :unimpressed:
Because its a portable with an HDMI out :stopitslime:
I would think that if they don’t go full pc soon 3rd parties will stop porting games for their hardware, there’s just no point unless they get a gamepass deal
:hula:
This is the equivalent of a Coli Cac post.

"All 3rd parties love xbox!" Cause I said so"
Does anybody know wtf he's talking about here :dahell:
You’d rather believe the cacs in the op cause they said so :mjpls:
That's the immediate thought of anyone with intelligence...
"You must agree with the title cause you're calling out bullshyt another poster posted!"

Folks can't help themselves.

I could say cookies are good and nikka would post "why don't you like muffins tho"

:mjlol:
:wtf:
Where does that say that 3rd parties are making more money and have safer investments?
Look at this goof demanding a tweet they posted say something he thinks we want said.... but the very first point actually does say what he'saying
{My nikkaZ, you can't make this shyt up :dead: }
If you click on the tweet since the whole thing doesn't show (for me at least)
1. Xbox’s third-party support is stronger than ever. You can see that through Game Pass deals, relationships with Square, Sega etc… There's no evidence at all of people walking away from Xbox (quite the opposite)

2. This part of the podcast was really to point out the transitional challenge Xbox has in keeping publishers happy with the Xbox console, while pushing their multi-format strategy. I don’t believe for a second we’re going to see many companies (if any) move away from Xbox, despite what a few might be grumbling in private. The whole industry strategy is multi-platform.

3. Ultimately, I believe Xbox’s strategy is great. It’s just there's a transitonal challenge they need to manage. But they can do it. Xbox + Game Pass is still one of the best value deals you can get in video games.
So you guys can't even find real tweets to support your lies, you have to keep things MANDATORY!!! and create narratives like you always have done :wow:
I said it's a hybrid. First of it's kind. :dwillhuh:
So then the Turbo Express from 1990 didn't also connect to TV?
The Sega Game Gear had a TV Tuner that allowed you to play on TV
Even Nintendo made several adapters for the Gameboy to be played on TV's. with the last one being the nintendo Gameboy player

There is no targets really. Nintendo makes games that are universally friendly for the most part. They have a lane and they thrive in it but what they always struggled with was maintaining the mainstream audiences. Mainly because they was too family friendly. Mortal Kombat, I remember Sonya and Kano fatalities :scust: Then the Genesis version which looked and played worse.. but it had blood and gore :banderas:
But since Nintendo was the early leader out the clubhouse, GENESIS DOES WHAT NINTENDON'T is basically what any gaming company has to do because they can't compete straight up. Plus Nintendo left that mainstream door open. When they tried to close it? It didn't work, they not really good at making games that are not designed with general audiences at the center.

Now Sony and Microsoft have been battling for that but in terms of gamers as a whole? Well, then we can look at PC and Mobile and see there's 100x more gamers out there than what people think. And what's crazy is PC and Mobile are secondary to consoles in terms of developers in gaming. Now devs realize they can make more money if they focus on a global outlook. So that's the new battlegrounds. What isn't said much is that the PC space with its vast userbase... still isn't a place Devs go to get rich. Gaming on PC was niche up until the last decade or so. Yes there are games that sold well, but most mainstream games didnt' even come to PC until recently. I still don't like the idea of a PC for gaming. I want a dedicated machine that plays games. So the Xbox PC/Console will be as Rekka said.. A Hybrid :smugbiden: And it'll have a handheld version as well. I don't expect them to replace Nintendo. But I do expect them to make more money from both markets (PC/General Audience crowd) and all of this combined I think they'll be profitable with the highest ceiling. They've invested too much for it to be anything less. IF it is less, then its a failure and these Sony Stans can rejoice I guess. TBC...

Reading the replies should be MANDATORY!!! before you try to quote me.

I'm not the one that said that Developers are making more money and have safer investments, and nothing in that tweet alludes to that.

The Lies you speak of are coming from inside the house...

I don't know who said that, who did?

I know what YOU SAID (quoted it)
And I know what the tweet said (I quoted that too)

So you not saying anything at all, literally
If developers were losing money then why are they flocking to Gamepass today, in 2025?
Feel free to insert your lie here without a shred of evidence to support it. And yes it will have to contradict the truth

I'm just thinking ahead for you :therethere:

I never said they’re losing money tho.

All I did is quote another poster and asked for proof.

Good try tho

You think 3rd party support is stronger than ever because they are losing money or breaking even :patrice:

If it don't make dollars then it don't make sense
