There were similar concerns about all the self-driving infrastructure in regulation heavy California. All it takes is an automated Truck driving in a construction zone area in a congested city. After the destruction and unfortunate fatalities happen, people would have to learn a tough lesson

It's very telling that they went to a place like Texas which has even fewer regulations than California, and couldn't give a damn about it's citizens.
I think the accident you're describing is inevitable, but because it will happen in the south, I'm willing to wager that the politicians will ignore it after being bought off . At worst we may get a "thoughts and prayers" speech like Republicans give when a gun violence incident occurs in their state. But it's back to business as usual the day afterwards
