I hate to laugh but, :pachaha: :laff:

All it takes is an automated Truck driving in a construction zone area in a congested city. After the destruction and unfortunate fatalities happen, people would have to learn a tough lesson

I've realized over the years, people like to learn the hard way
Not necessarily. These tech companies have figured out how to buy off regulators in a way that the airline industry has not . There were similar concerns about all the self-driving infrastructure in regulation heavy California. Yet there are fully autonomous driverless cars all over their streets despite opposition and despite several accidents.

It's very telling that they went to a place like Texas which has even fewer regulations than California, and couldn't give a damn about it's citizens.

I think the accident you're describing is inevitable, but because it will happen in the south, I'm willing to wager that the politicians will ignore it after being bought off . At worst we may get a "thoughts and prayers" speech like Republicans give when a gun violence incident occurs in their state. But it's back to business as usual the day afterwards

Yeah that's not my point. These states can regulate and legislate all they want to approve of these automated self driving trucks. It would take about hundred or so catastrophic events (notice I said events, not number of people which would be way more than a hundred) for people to learn that you can't safely drive an automated truck in high traffic city areas or any area with extreme random weather conditions

Don't worry, y'all will learn

They already are bringing in autonomous fighter jets for the military.
I mean SpaceX is catching rockets out of mid air.

I hate Elon but those Engineers over there are Engineering.

Unmanned airplanes are going to be able to do insane shyt without having to worry about a human’s threshold for g’s.

They’re still catching rockets out the sky though all on camera in real time.

Their tech is something companies like Lockheed Martin annd other defense/aerospace companies are collaborating with them on. In addition to the Golden Dome program.

They just lost control yesterday

They’ve also landed many though.

Their tech work has proven it’s possible and they just need to keep making improvements and corrections to get it consistent.

This isn’t really a credit to Elon, but moreso at the end of the day they have some of the world’s best Engineers working there.

What is this assumption that it would be safer?

Do you know what will happen when a sensor in an 80,000 lb vehicle going 70mph goes out?
i mean, people act like driverless cars and trucks have to be perfect. when really, to justify their existence, they just have to have *less* accidents than humans
which they probably will do, pretty easily :yeshrug:
