:beli: no it hasnt. and if those jobs are so plentiful and lucrative then adults with responsibilities should be the priority for them, not teens

theres nothing wrong with teens working low paying retail and fast food jobs, because someone has to do them and all things considered they're the best demographic for them. frankly it would be ideal if those were mostly relegated to teens without families and responsibilties, and adults were taking those jobs you're talking about

and if you want an example of your first point, For years, immigration authorities gave this Arizona mother a pass. Now she has been deported.

how am i "supposed" to feel about this story?

This person has obviously never had a summer job lol ...wow.

But what if you're not middle class and have to work?

I did..was a pretty smart kid too, but not from a well off or even middle class family.

Comment is kind of obtuse on your part...
It's not at all. No one is talking about YOU in particular. But being unable to get a summer job is less important than the educational struggles of AAs.

That comment is kind of selfish on your part. :troll:

Ummmm...you're really obtuse.

Beyond education in school work actually teaches you a lot so, working is part of education and a great way to build a resume and start to learn how to deal with you own money.

And some kids actually HAVE to work...summer jobs are necessary for them.

How are you this obtuse?

Even Obama knew this and one of his first programs was a summer work program for kids. He recently donated money to fund a summer job program for teens...All education doesn't happen at school.

Obamas pledge $2 million for summer jobs, apprenticeships for Chicago youth

I'm not being selfish it's just you're just kind of out of touch with reality. :troll:

If you have your high school summer job on your resume you've already lost.

I'm actually not being obtuse. I'm speaking towards being proactive where you seem to be content of just operating within the system. We've had numerous discussions on the poor literacy rates of AAs and in particular AA males. I personally feel it's more important to work on that than it is to try and get a summer job to Cop some shoes and fresh gear for the school year. Further, you are vastly overstating the amount of kids who "HAVE TO WORK" especially in comparison to the amount of children who cannot read, write, or count at a meaningful level.

And miss me with that out of touch shyt. I grew up with parents who made less than 45k combined for the majority of my life despite having two kids. Ya'll always try to throw that card out there like you're the only one who went through some kind of struggle. :beli:

so why should i support adding illegal immigration to the labor pool on top of all of this :yeshrug: isnt it just one more detriment?
EXACTLY
I'm not sure if it's a matter of "supporting" immigrants taking menial summer jobs--I don't think anyone's "pushing" for it necessarily--it's just a fact of the workforce. :kanyebp:

The question is why society wants to push teens into low paying retail and food service jobs, when the economy has evolved to afford them much more lucrative opportunities (drop shipping, e-commerce, ride sharing programs like Uber, etc.)
of course a teenager is gonna do UBER and E COMMERCE :russ:

Sometimes you nikkas should just shut the hell up .
Based on all relevant data black teens should use the summer to increase their educational proficiency.

Instead of moving towards an economic model where workers hold the levers of power and production is geared towards human need instead of profit, right-wingers would rather scapegoat and demonize vulnerable groups and stir up hatred between racial groups. shyt is lame and the playbook is old as fukk.

Can you imagine a teenager pulling up as your UBER driver?

UBER probably wouldn't even want to cover the insurance for a teen driver, especially male one.
