Due to Luka Doncic hitting the 65 game threshold he’s now eligible to sign the new Supermax which is 5 years and 346 million dollars.

He is a great player and a strong case can be made right now he is the best player in the league he has made 4 first team ALL NBA consecutively and this year will likely be first team ALL NBA/2nd or 1st in MVP voting, that is a high level of consistency and high level play. He is going to go down as one of the greatest players ever at this rate and will likely be a top scorer

Yup. Take the money.

That said, when a player has enough money and despite what many may think, legacy and accolades does start to matter to them more.

To the average NBA star who doesn't win anything or knows they won't win anything, they're happy with the money and enjoy the ride. To the very best of the best who are ultra-competitive and driven, money isn't the main driver anymore. Like you can't tell me LeBron values money the most at this point.

Lebron is playing to catch Jordan, so of course money wouldn't matter to him like that. Even then, you aren't going to see him leave money on the table these days even if it meant benefitting his team and his long term goal.

If you're a player on Jerami Grant's level, I think money is way more important than a ring. He's not good enough to ever be in goat or HOF conversations where accolades like a championship are gonna be brought up.

brunson carried son the one year he made noise in the playoffs

how hes got kyrie and missed the playoffs last year and no one mentions it
You mean the same Brunson that was getting hunted on defense just like Luka was? Let's not have revisionist history about that one as he literally got benched during that Clippers series for that reason.

that was 2021 when neither of them had any success.

2022 brunson put the team on his back for two rounds then in round 3 they went back to playing doncicball and lost

Good, so people can leave Jaylen Brown alone for making $288 million lol. He was just the first shoe to drop

Well deserved for Luka though

Cause they’re casuals who don’t know how NBA salaries work

It’s no different from when Mike Conley was the highest paid player in the league for one season because he was the first to eat off the NBA salary cap spike of the mid 2010s
