Dumbbells cannot be bench press royalty. Only the barbell can be and 3 plates aside (315lbs) is when I personally become impressed...and I stress the I part
Seems like 3 plates impresses everyone. I know as long as I weigh under 170 I won't ever get to the point where I'm working out with it. I've gotten it up twice when I weighed about 188.

I think the strength standard of course weight comes into consideration but id rank it like this

Novice 25-75
Intermediate 80-100
Advanced 105-130
Elite 130-150

Should kind of relate to the flat bench

Novice 95-185
Intermediate 225-295
Advanced 315-365
Elite 365-above

But of course how much a person weighs means a lot. Right now my own personal Flat bench max is 3x315 that I only do with a spotter most of the time I dont go over 245 unless its one of my strength training days. For DB Flat Bench I do 7x110 butI usually work in the 10x85 range....I do a fullbody routine and bench is also after squats/deadlifts and before overhead press/Bent over row.

I prefer incline and overhead pressing movements for chest development however.
