It’s not Dusty Baker’s fault that

Bryce Harper hit .211
Daniel Murphy hit .211
Anthony Rendon hit .176
Trea Turner hit .143
Jayson Werth hit .167
Ryan Zimmerman hit .150

How the fukk is Baker supposed to fix that?

Didn't they just hire him like last year? :gucci:

Dusty's teams always seem to find ways to choke in the playoffs. Usually in spectacular fashion.

The 2002 World Series where the Giants choked away a 5 run lead in the 8th inning of game 6 :mjcry:

The Bartman game in Chicago :damn:

The 2012 Reds blowing a 2-0 first round lead and losing 3 straight at home. :damn:

Whole thing givin' me PTSD from my Reds a few years back.....Reg season genius manager put cannot get his squad to give him juice post season ......just doesn't make sense:mjcry:

Baseball postseason is basically just pure randomness. Lot of factors go into it, same reason it's so hard even for a team as talented as the Cubs to repeat

Even assuming a 100% chance of making the playoffs and a 50/50 coin flip in every series, there's only a 90% chance you would get any repeat champ over a period of 18 years. That doesn't even account for:

1. Baseball service time rules where the best teams are likely to lose the most talent year in year out, especially since the trade market revolves around rentals
2. Injuries from a result of playing an extra month of baseball instead of rest
3. Regression to the mean on talent (Chris Taylor isn't this good tbh) or injuries (different from 2 since most WS winning teams need injury luck anyway)
4. The 2nd WC slot making it even harder with 10 teams in the playoffs now
5. Other front offices stealing top decision makers

shyt's hard, and distilling a 162 game season down to 5-7 games makes everything basically just pure luck.
