they haven't had a winning season since

So the odds are against them? It's just not likely. He totally deserves at least one more year.
Oh if dusty wants he'll manage again....shyt Lou pinella still gets calls....he in the boys club and may even sniff the hall of fame for his win totals.....but a team can bounce back post Dusty.

Nationals weren't shyt before Dusty got there.
People are fickle and short term obsessed.
Same with Marvin and the Bengals.
People would rather flame out than have longterm sustained success but not get a title.

I like Dusty, he's a great manager for a long season... but he gets killed in these short series.

Baseball postseason is basically just pure randomness. Lot of factors go into it, same reason it's so hard even for a team as talented as the Cubs to repeat

Even assuming a 100% chance of making the playoffs and a 50/50 coin flip in every series, there's only a 90% chance you would get any repeat champ over a period of 18 years. That doesn't even account for:

1. Baseball service time rules where the best teams are likely to lose the most talent year in year out, especially since the trade market revolves around rentals
2. Injuries from a result of playing an extra month of baseball instead of rest
3. Regression to the mean on talent (Chris Taylor isn't this good tbh) or injuries (different from 2 since most WS winning teams need injury luck anyway)
4. The 2nd WC slot making it even harder with 10 teams in the playoffs now
5. Other front offices stealing top decision makers

shyt's hard, and distilling a 162 game season down to 5-7 games makes everything basically just pure luck.

All this goes back to shutting down Strasburg .... don't these former player managers know baseball doesn't work like other sports... aint no guarantee you be back next year.. .. they had the chance to go for it and they balked talking about next year ... and next year aint come yet.

Dusty is a players' manager and has such reputation. He was brought in to amend the shytty chemistry and I think he's done well in that regard. I wouldn't really want Dusty in these playoff tight games situations tho.

It's weird how Dusty is blamed for the Nationals playoff ineptness when they have always been inept in the playoffs. lol
When is Harper, Zimmerman, Rendon, Gonzalez, Scherzer, etc. ever gonna feel the heat?! :what:
