WASHINGTON, DC
media outlet modernization is a whole ass thing.... washington post was doing as well as it was doing through the 2010s purely because of its status as a legacy fixture

they ate a ton of losses just to keep appearances for a likely decade longer than they should've

Yeah internet killed sports media because a lot of old sports media was just posting results and recap. Nowadays you can do that in seconds after the fact.

Sports is a very time sensitive thing so people want to see discussion over games ASAP, then move to other games next week (ie football).

Then print media journalism is just in shyt place with internet. The only thing in demand or at least respected is investigative journalism. And even that is dangerous and/or dying out in lieu of blogs/content creators who can do the same thing but me more accessible with video narratives.

Internet has more to do with it than the Oligarchs tho. fukk Bezos, Zuck, and the rest of them bozos. Not saying they ain't contributed to the demise, but the shyt you used to goto the paper to get and have to wait for you simply don't anymore.

I don't want it to go away, but the audience has become accustomed to instant info.
I literally had this same thought when I came across an old ESPNnews vid the other day :mjcry:

Internet killed traditional sports print media. :francis:
agreed.. I actually get more breaking sports news on here and then ESPN is second most times.

I will say the Post should be free on the internet. Besos could just write the Post off as an expense. Running it in a cost cutting way is ridiculous for the amount of money he has. I think the paper is 1% of his wealth

The right way, the wrong way and the Max Power way
Ironically the NYT has some of the best sports coverage now via The Athletic, and I'm surprised WaPo didn't see the incentive or value in trying to compete with that.
When they post exclusive insider shyt yeah. When those pretentious fakkits try to come up with opinion pieces they're as garbage as the rest of them. Maybe more so.
