It's weird how Dusty is blamed for the Nationals playoff ineptness when they have always been inept in the playoffs. lol
When is Harper, Zimmerman, Rendon, Gonzalez, Scherzer, etc. ever gonna feel the heat?! :what:
Im not really blaming him, Im just saying I dont think hes the type of manager who performs really well in playoff situations. of course, Im partial as that 2002 WS was one of the worst chokejobs Ive seen :mjcry:

Black managers never get the credit they deserve. All those sentiments about Dusty were straight code: "players' manager" "great motivator", never anything talking about strategic acumen or anything. Joe Girardi, they quick to talk about how he's smart, went to Northwestern (no shade at Joe, just bringing up an example). If Dave Roberts messes around and wins the World Series this year, I can guarantee that the story will be more about the Dodgers' payroll and "he had a stacked lineup". Shoot, the homie Cito Gaston won back to back chips in Toronto, and they used to call him "Seat-O" cause they felt like he never did anything in the dugout.

They should definitely get the heat, especially Zimmerman. (Scherzer got unlucky in that game 5, he pitched a gem in game 3 and was let down)

But the same way people in this thread want to say the Nationals are always inept in the playoffs are ignoring that Dusty has pretty much always been inept in the playoffs.

In order to be a successful manager in baseball you have to be two different kinds of managers. The first is the guy who manages for a marathon, not getting too high with the wins or low with the losses. Keeping an even keel throughout the season, understanding that you are bound to lose at least 60 games. This is where Dusty is great. However when the postseason starts you have to completely change the way you manage. It has to change to an inning by inning mode, quick decisions need to be made, calls to the bullpen need to be made now, rather than in one batter. Leads need to be protected at all cost. Blowing a 3-1 lead in a August game may hurt, but doing that in October is the difference between advancing or going home. This is where Dusty is lackluster.

Washington had been more inept. Dusty has been to the WS. They are being short sighted.

And he cost the Giants that same World Series with his management in game 6, so nah.

If you gonna say one, you have to say the other.

That doesn't disprove my point, losing in the WS and winning your league is more than the Nationals have ever done. Facts.

Fans shyt on Joe all the time. Some media do too but Joe’s in with the press because he’s always available to talk

Brolic... Alcoholics
horrible franchise.. they gave williams and johnson, riggleman 2 years and kicked them to the curves

that franchise is own and run by microwave owners...

This isn't brought up enough about this organization. They keep switching managers hoping that things will be different but they still have the same players. At some point, they have to start pointing the finger at these players for not getting it done.
