no way is the rock is a hotter commodity now in 2015 than he was back in 2000-2001. he is exposed to a larger audience now yes but when he was heavyweight champ rock was must see tv. you could even argue that the reason his first few movies hit were because he was just coming off wrestling when he was still so white hot. notice how the longer he stayed away from wrestling the more and more he started to flop. from like 05-10 he was either putting out huge bombs or he was a minor supporting role in an even bigger star's movie. but really nobody gave a shyt.

and please fast and furious isn't a fukkin rock movie. that's like sayin the 96 bulls was dennis rodman's team.

Rock was never doing bombs..he went years and years with opening #1 all the time. Tooth Fairy and Southland Tales were about as bad as it got...he didn't need no damn return to wrestling. He was saving GI Joe, Journey 2, and his presence on Fast Five was the most promoted on the movie and the shyt blew up to record numbers.
