i forget who but some old head told me that Kareem isn't in GOAT talks because he pissed off white people with his politics back in the day and he became persona non grata in the media.
MJ they like better because he isn't super opinionated or at least isn't very public about his opinions.
OH THATS WHY THE FANS
DIDNT HAVE HIM IN GOAT TALKS?

THATS WHY PLAYERS WERE
CALLING MJ GOAT WHILE
KAREEM WAS STILL PLAYING?

yeah, that's the implication. Enough people with influence simply didn't like him enough to push to goat tag on him.
It's as much about marketing as it is your play on the court.

Bruh the Kareem shyt so fake a see-thru, he didn't get back into the convo until LeBron seriously threatened Mike, then nikkas started with this "what about Cap" shyt...

What about him? All-Time great but not on their level. Similar thing muhfukkas have done with Kobe, consensus has had Bron over Bean for years but muhfukkas started this "what about Kobe" shyt, we know about him. These dudes not on Bron's level historically...
I do believe Kobe was underrated while living, people weren’t even having him top-10. But it’s gone to overrated in his death. And it’s still such a sensitive topic, people are only now starting to rebut this recent “Kobe is the goat” talk. His goat supporters were allowed to run wild with those fantasies for a couple of years but I think enough time has passed where we can be honest again.

Yea. This Kareem = GOAT shyt is a recent phenomenon. During the mid to late 2000's, I don't remember many arguing him over Magic let alone Jordan
You realize that's what happens with history, right? There are a lot of revisions. THats the point of going back to evaluate.

I said it earlier in the day, but Ty Cobb was seen as the best MLB player of all time by a distance in 1950. He and Ruth were elected to the HOF the same year, and CObb got in with a larger percentage of votes than Ruth. They used to do those MLB all time lists and Cobb always won by a distance.

Cobb retired in 1928 and Ruth retired in 1935. In today times, Ruth is now always ahead of Cobb in these lists based on nothing but new people re-evaluating their careers. These subjective lists are not static and don't stay the same. I don't think MJ will be forgotten but you sound like them old cacs who think their youth was the best time if you don't think there will be future revisions.

I don't think so partially off the strength of Michael Jordan having so much video. The other thing is and let's be reality Kareem was way more militant than Michael and we don't like our athletes overly militant.

Totally disagree for several reasons.

- MJ hasn't played basketball in almost 2 decades yet his name is still front and center. Why? Because there are so many reminders of him. His damm sneakers sell out in 5 minutes to this day. His highlights are all over the net. People are not gonna forget about this guy anytime soon.

- Using Kareem was a bad example. I personally believe big men (at least prior to todays 3 point shooting big men) suffer in the conversation because what they can do is limited. What is Kareem, Shaq or Wilt doing for you outside the paint? They're not hitting outside shots, driving to the paint, bringing the ball up from the other end of the court, etc.

- Mikes highlights are just too ridiculous. He did sh!t almost FORTY years ago that still give us the :ohhh::merchant::ooh::krs::ohlawd::salute::mindblown::banderas: faces. Kareem? An unstoppable Sky Hook. What else?

- There are actually several teams playing right now that have MJ's likeness on their jerseys :smugdraper:
