Sony stopped participating in E3 like a couple years ago. I doubt they’ll ever come back.
Remake part 2 is probably still a couple years off. XVI should be next year so 2023 is more likely there.
Metroid Prime 4 switched studios and got a full reboot on development so I wouldn’t expect that either.

It’s true. For many years Microsoft has put together average at best E3s. Nintendo doesn’t have enough content to complete. If the market leader isn’t present it downgrades the show by default.

of course one of the "big 3" not being there takes away from the show, but it's not downgrading to any where near trash status, stop it.

Sony aren't at E3, so take that out. Square are focused on FFXVI. Metroid is your best shot.

Sony represents at least 60% of the home console market. Their games make the biggest splash @ E3. They are the gold standard everyone else is graded against. Them not being there yeah makes E3 trash in comparison until proven otherwise. When somebody else steps up and proves they can put together a competent E3 press event that compares to what Sony used to do I'll consider otherwise.of course one of the "big 3" not being there takes away from the show, but it's not downgrading to any where near trash status, stop it.

Let's not act like Microsoft ain't gonna march out there and dedicate another 15-20 minutes of whatever they do to showing off yet another Forza game like they do damn near every year. If we're lucky Nintendo shows Breath of the Wild 2 but you can only usually count on them for a game or 2 to actually get excited about.
The third parties like Ubisoft always put together the same trash conferences year after year.
Also the COVID delays are more than likely in full effect. Let's not act like most E3s Sony didn't bring the heat and almost consistently have good press events debuting great games.

That's actually exactly how people are going to act. At least those without bias who actually watch E3 press conferences.
I guess you forgot that Sony stopped going to E3 because they had a few dud press conferences in a row. IIRC they were criticized for announcing their games early which led to not having anything new to show. And let's keep it 100 here. Sony is still showcasing and announcing their games around the same time as E3. But I guess that's just a coincidence, right?
