It's funny because I remember when the consoles were unveiled and talked about indepth it was at their own dedicated events rather than E3. Even last generation's consoles had their own events. High profile games like Final Fantasy XV last generation had their own dedicated events.

The market leader has decided to skip holding E3 press events multiple years in a row. If such an event is so important why would they do that?

E3 derails developers as they have to specifically prepare content to be shown at the event. Millions of gamers have these consoles. Like some 48 or so million people have Playstation Plus subs. They can reach gamers from the home screens of these consoles directly. They can reach them with demos and videos there as well as YouTube.

we already explained why they dipped. and I already told why some companies still decide to show up for whatever it's worth to do so. E3 doesn't have to derail anything since you can simply chose not to show up if you're not ready to show anything or simply just want to do it on your own time like Pokemon Company.

I simply say E3 isn't trash status without Sony. If y'all could get away with hyping up a game like death stranding, I think the companies showing up this year will be just fine.

Square enix pretty much confirmed Sony is having their own conference because they didn’t list any final fantasy games or Forspoken on their presser

I don't see the problem with that. It still was a spot that a lot of creative minds got to interact face to face with the fans and behind the scenes. A place to judge crowd and fan reactions.

It's not a good thing to try and smoother that out, especially when the next thing that comes along is just going to try to do the same thing E3 was anyway.

I feel that gaming in general has taken a hit by having all these digital presentations, creates less hype and excitement. Plus I miss those hands on E3 videos that use to trickle out.

It’s true. For many years Microsoft has put together average at best E3s. Nintendo doesn’t have enough content to complete. If the market leader isn’t present it downgrades the show by default.

I think if Ubi or EA picked up the slack it wouldn't be so bad. Sony only drops what...2 or 3 Sony exclusives a year?

But Ubi and EA have continued to drop the ball. Ubi still hasn't shown us gameplay of Beyond Good & Evil 2

E3 was a tradeshow where publishers would show their games to the press and retailers. a big part of it was securing orders with retailers. it's not really needed now that there's only a handful of major retailers, and it's so easy to just show games online. now it's basically become more of a "direct-2-consumer" thing, because that is really what the gaming business is becoming
