Thats a myth. Alex Smith isn't a great deep ball thrower but his time in Kansas City deaded that. He besically has 53% completion rating on passes over 20 yards which is respectable and thats with less weapons than he had on 49ers.

its definitely a myth in a sense that he 'can't' throw deep balls. he certainly has the arm for it



the problem is he cant really do it consistently. hes a much better qb when he stays in his comfort zone and not try too much to hit those throws.

thats the thing the QBs that can do it consistently are top 10 QBs. If I'm not mistaken 53% puts him at #12 or 13 though I agree he clearly works best within the confines of the offense. But he had just enough physical tools to keep defenses honest.

I agree with Deion's first tweet 100%, the second one though doesn't even make sense if the point was to throw shade on Kellz. The spread offense doesn't produce great wide receivers and they aren't even required to be great in that system. Still, Kellz had tons of success and games with 50+ points that should speak to how well his system works, atleast at the college level anyway.
