Album is dope. This is the clearest he's rapped in a long time. The production is a lot brighter and more melodic than what he's been doing lately too.

I love Some Rap Songs, I Don't Like shyt..., even The Alchemist album....but this is nice change in direction. There's still some of that lo-fi mumbling stream of conscious style but you can tell he is in a better place mentally and the music reflects that.

And still be incredibly dense. You can tell him getting closer to his mom and recognizing his father's legacy, has switched things up with him

His progression not only as a rapper but a highly famous one for years to purposely shun media attention and attempted to placate an earlier audience has to be commended.

New earl is insanely different from the old one, even if some of the subject matter stays the same. Replace the edgy teenage cac shyt with more actual substantial bars of substance that are still counterculture.

Bro on a bop talking about free Gaza. Uncompromised artistry

That's one of the reasons I applaud him for making this shyt.

'cause it was like the ultimate "fukk you" to anyone who wanted him to be Odd Future Earl or Tyler's Batman sidekick during that horrible "Trashwang" Loiter Squad troll bullshyt that the same teenage cac fanbase applauded, sounding like a jaded Eminem about killing bytches and being hostile on the track for unnecessary reasons.
You jump into any comment section on his recent albums, and it's all cacs going "He lame now, he lost his fanbase and substance trying to be..."
Not knowing that this man purposefully Bob Dylan'd his shyt to get a certain sect of people that wanted him to be the opposite of what he wants to be in terms of his writing and artistry.
I mean, I love Hive and the album Doris but his progression both mentally and spiritually takes him away from that era and I'm for that shyt.

can't sit down until the bases rounded, impatient
Politicking with pagans, hated how I sounded, I'ma see you later
Made it safe and sound, my fingers seize the day of meeting solemn prayer, easy payment
To me, it beats making problems, brazen
Brought the beef to the grazing ox

Earl undoubtedly has one of the best pens and from an early age seemed like a rhyming savant. But why does he continue to pick such subpar beats? He can continue on his path of artistic progression that mirrors his spiritual development.... On some better muthafukking beats :martin:
These beats are beautiful man.

You tell me this is a subpar beat?

That's all good...but he could still rap on beat and like he's fully awake. I like the lyrics, but this stuff is really hard to listen to at times.

That one's not bad, but let's not pretend that Earl has been a great selector of soundscapes for his projects. I'm speaking on his projects in general, not specifically this one. Will give this one a spin this weekend.
