Son I don’t know where u be at but I see more in ur face hate from the south in real life and on here than I EVER seen from NY. Certain DJ’s and artists n shyt from up here was hatin but that damn sure wasnt how it was for the whole city. If u was dope. We was fukkin wit ya shyt. Matter fact we even was fukkin wit the novelty shyt like 95 South up here. But if yo shyt was wack we called it wack it dont matter where it was from. Plenty of NY and East Coast artists done got straight up kicked off the stage by doper emcees. nikkas was being sensitive acting like it was some shyt against the south. NYC fukked wit all coasts.

bro in 1995 when outkast won best new rap group at the 2nd annual source awards they were booed outta the building. and you should have seen salt's stank face when she opened the envelope to announce that they had even won, "and the winner is.... OUTKAAAAST?" lol so amongst the boos my nikka andre spit prophetic words at us "the south got something to say!" why were we so mad when southernplayalistic was that crack as an album?

willie d talked about it as well. coming to perform joints off of grip it on another level back in '89 and new york shytting on them hard. wasn't until mind playing tricks on me that they got showered with love. so you're right, we have fukked with certain records and acts but the 80's and early 90's was rough for southerners (west coast artists like too short too) when it came to nyc

Preach!

I was working for a small street magazine at the time and I had the fortune of interviewing a well known Dungeon Family artist who I WONT NAME outside the Felt Forum just following the ending of the 1994 Source Awards...

Anyway we had addressed Andre 3000 comments about "THE SOUTH GOT SOMETHING TO SAY"

and he said and I quote...

"some of den folk in the WU was getting disrespectful backstage so we had to speak on it as well as some other rude azz sh1t we been dealing with here in this city (new york)"

And fellow dungeon family member CEE LO addressed it as well...

With a sub on the WU on the Still Standing intro :

I thought y'all n1ggas was the GEE OH DEE(GOD) sounds like another
N1gga to me
:umad:

And let's not forget Thurston Howell comments dissing Flex for playing all that "country sh1t from Master P and Cash Money"

Yeah the Hate was definitely REAL

Like I said nikka. U must have not been around during that time cause guess what? The CITY is not the Source Awards. The INDUSTRY is. Like I said. U proving my point. The only people who keep repeating that NY was hating bullshyt is nikkas who keep going back to that Source awards as if that’s how the city felt. shyt that same Source awards Nas got snubbed for everything. Who gives a shyt? U watch that Source awards u would think NYC was hating on Death Row. And that was the complete opposite of the truth in reality. Did we have a bias overall? Yes. EVERY region has a bias. Not to mention the fact that we the Mecca of this shyt. It was certain standards. All kinda East Coast nikkas was getting booed off stage and kicked off stage by doper emcees. That’s the NATURE of NYC at the time. We had a boo culture. Lauryn Hill got booed at the Apollo. But we fukked wit all of that shyt. Heavy. From any coast. If the shyt was dope. We was fukkin wit it. U lookin like u fishing for daps right now.

Them nikkas had problems wit everybody. It wasnt bout the South. Like I said South nikkas was being sensitive. Wu Tang was shytting on Biggie too. NYC fukked wit Outkast. Loved they shyt.

i mean if that's how he feels i ain't upset about it just because i'm from the east coast. i can understand wanting to let your nuts drag and pop collars a lil something when you got hated on so hard. uncle luke's book "the book of luke" is a great read and really puts in perspective how tough it was for the south. luke was talking about how eric b. and rakim, run dmc, fat boys and salt n pepa were shyttin on them because they were southern. my man rakim allah actually would try to get promoters to cut their time short or not want to let them perform altogether. the music was different and they had those accents so nikkas was clowning and saying it wasn't real hip hop, damn that was disappointing to read yall

so imagine what a southern OG like j prince feels like seeing the southern reign of dominance from 2003 to present day. he deserves to take a few victory laps and stunt on nikkas, frankly i'm type surprised southern hip hop heads on the coli and other internet forums don't do it more to be honest. especially if it means shyttin on nyc specifically, we ain't all bad but we had some serious haters can't front
Real spill my breh :salute:

the issues with WU and DUNGEON FAMILY was right after outkast had debuted LONG before the OUTKAST 3 album with rae and slick by then things had gotten patched up between both parties (outkast mangager blue & wu peeps.. power and divine)

and for the record OUTKAST NEVER GOT ANY PLAY ON HOT 97 and got showed NO LOVE IN THE TUNNEL or the majority of NYC clubs back then during it's prime......

i was in the TUNNEL and still got the cassette tape that Mr. Excitment from the Flip Squad use to sell outside of recording Flex that particular night..

and NOT one south record got played and hell the only west coast record that got spun was Erick Sermon collabo with Too short...and he cut that off before short got to spit :umad:

that hate was real mane..STOP BEING IN DENIAL B. :manny:

and as far as WU shytting on BIG..it wasn't HATE...it was just friendly competition jabs...at that same time ..BIGGIE always stated how he loved RZA beats and that's how that collabo with METH went down on "THE WHAT"

now as far as RZA comments on the SOUTH that was pure VENOM (HATE)..he basically said the south was primitive savages and hadn't evolved like the east coast cats saying none of them made it past the 6th grade and were on welfare...when the truth of the matter is the majority of the Wu members didn't make it past high school and let's not talk about ol dirty "food stamp loving" b*stard :lolbron:

“Master P [and I] had a talk about this years ago, I was speaking on the education level in the South and how brothers drop out in the sixth grade,” Rza explained. “Some of them because they have to go to work, some of them because of the poverty, some because they’re not interested in the education system… just a lot of crazy things that people from up North had evolved from.”

Rza continued. “They frying fat back in the kitchen, Grandpops didn’t have more than a sixth-grade reading level. My grandma was a welfare mom.”

it wasnt friendly nothing wit Biggie. Method Man said out his own mouth that nikkas used to screwface Biggie for no reason. Wu Tang nikkas shytted on alot of nikkas. fukk what Rza had to say. That wasnt even in the 90s. That was in the mid 00s. And who gives a shyt about how Wu felt? Wu Tang dont represent how a WHOLE CITY feels. STOP bringing up these industry nikkas as some type of example.
