Like I said nikka. U must have not been around during that time cause guess what? The CITY is not the Source Awards. The INDUSTRY is. Like I said. U proving my point. The only people who keep repeating that NY was hating bullshyt is nikkas who keep going back to that Source awards as if that’s how the city felt. shyt that same Source awards Nas got snubbed for everything. Who gives a shyt? U watch that Source awards u would think NYC was hating on Death Row. And that was the complete opposite of the truth in reality. Did we have a bias overall? Yes. EVERY region has a bias. Not to mention the fact that we the Mecca of this shyt. It was certain standards. All kinda East Coast nikkas was getting booed off stage and kicked off stage by doper emcees. That’s the NATURE of NYC at the time. We had a boo culture. Lauryn Hill got booed at the Apollo. But we fukked wit all of that shyt. Heavy. From any coast. If the shyt was dope. We was fukkin wit it. U lookin like u fishing for daps right now.

sure every region is going to be biased towards their own artists first. like i'm sure bay area nikkas prefer 40, mac dre, short, and luniz over new york city artists, seems normal enough to me & isn't an issue. but dig it though:

"What is everybody so mad at the south for? Learn how to switch ya style up go southpaw"

Jadakiss - Thug It Out, 2006

so tell me, who exactly was jada addressing in those lyrics? and why did he perceive there being some resentment towards the south?

How the fukk the nikkas who created this shi

it wasnt friendly nothing wit Biggie. Method Man said out his own mouth that nikkas used to screwface Biggie for no reason. Wu Tang nikkas shytted on alot of nikkas. fukk what Rza had to say. That wasnt even in the 90s. That was in the mid 00s. And who gives a shyt about how Wu felt? Wu Tang dont represent how a WHOLE CITY feels. STOP bringing up these industry nikkas as some type of example.

but why bring up NYC Street Nikkas to validate points when the street cats i knew in NYC were in my circle and you had street cats in your circle im not familiar with

and NONE OF THEM rep the general sentiment of NYC as well :manny:

like my best friend from the ST. NICK projects..he hated lil boosie and didn't like no limit either....

or my ex from Astoria and her brother who is still locked down upstate they both hated Pac and didn't fukk with the south either.....

and for the record WE JUST POSTERS ON A BOARD....I DON'T KNOW OF YOU BEING STREET AND NEITHER DO YOU so it aint a issue to bring up the RADIO and CLUB reactions of NYC...

What was it...You was too broke to get into the club? :umad:

didn't have a car to travel the tristate so you were limited to public transportation?

i was in the clubs...and was in every boro during the 90s with the exception of Staten island....

word is bond..

Back in 06 u had all that Laffy Taffy and Snap and Soulja Boy shyt. So nikkas couldnt stand that shyt. EVEN West Coast legends like Snoop and Ice T was callin that shyt out. U know how many Southern artists was poppin by 06? nikka the WHOLE CITY fukked wit Jeezy. That was just the year before. TIP. Ludacris was on all kinda NYC remixes. He was even on Nas’s album at that point. Crunk was big in NYC. Before that. Neva Scared remix had a bunch of NY nikkas on it. Lil Jon linked wit a bunch of NY artist. Nas had Quick To Back Down. Etc etc. And like I said. Stop bringing up industry examples. Cause that aint representative of the whole city.

Son most nikkas from the city will tell u that as a whole we fukked wit other regions. shyt. Look at Prodigy(RIP) when he said “I dont even understand what Snoop was talkin bout cause New York loved Death Row and them nikkas..” Matter fact. The biggest Pac hater I know personally is from ATL and Alabama. The south. So that mean the south hate’s Pac? No. The problem is nikkas let publications and Suge and Diddy’s beef cloud they judgement into thinking the whole city was like that. They made it seem more of a coastal thing than it really was.

I'll just say this.....the South got love in the 90's from all the major platforms that played music videos....BET played alot of southern hip hop videos, The Box did as well....MTV however didn't show as much love like that....the South may have gotten hate from other artist but the industry showed them much love so I can't get behind that whole hating shyt....:manny:....

when NY was on top they were elitist but every place had a regional bias.

it's not uncommon to hear people say they weren't tryna hear lyrical shyt. and now that NY isn't as dominant they get hate as well so in reality all it proves is that nobody is different. whenever a different region got the power they act a lil selfish and elitist.

Exactly. I look at anybody who say they lived in NY and was active during that time frame but act like the city was hating on everything not east coast with the side eye. Cause that shyt aint true. The city fukked wit whatever was dope and whatever they was exposed to during that time. nikkas have titty attacks if we didnt fukk wit they local artists n shyt but its not like as a whole they fukked wit ours either. Like I said ive experienced more hate from the South towards NY now than I EVER experienced the other way around in the 90s.

i mean if that's how he feels i ain't upset about it just because i'm from the east coast. i can understand wanting to let your nuts drag and pop collars a lil something when you got hated on so hard. uncle luke's book "the book of luke" is a great read and really puts in perspective how tough it was for the south. luke was talking about how eric b. and rakim, run dmc, fat boys and salt n pepa were shyttin on them because they were southern. my man rakim allah actually would try to get promoters to cut their time short or not want to let them perform altogether. the music was different and they had those accents so nikkas was clowning and saying it wasn't real hip hop, damn that was disappointing to read yall

so imagine what a southern OG like j prince feels like seeing the southern reign of dominance from 2003 to present day. he deserves to take a few victory laps and stunt on nikkas, frankly i'm type surprised southern hip hop heads on the coli and other internet forums don't do it more to be honest. especially if it means shyttin on nyc specifically, we ain't all bad but we had some serious haters can't front

As a southerner....this is the realist shyt Ive read in a long time. Salute King. :salute:

A lot of that shyt is just repressed anger from all those times when brehs was made fun of or were not given fair play.

but as much as East Coast is not running the direction of the music they still always have a top artist in the game mainstream wise. :ehh:

they do? i mean i see general nyc jokes about our broads having raspy voices or us living in boxes lol... but i'm talking about in regards to hip hop specifically

our biggest rappers' biggest hit is a southern trap record bodak yellow which is a blatant copy of a florida nikkas record. we got a dude from harlem who shouts out houston and rhymes in a juicy j cadence on records. not to mention having a legendary hip hop powerhouse outta queens who said in 2002, "ny nikka soundin like i'm straight up southern" and "i'm from ny whoadie but i know country grammar". hell he even talks in a faux southern accent in his rant at the end of the i run ny track with yayo

if i'm from the south peeping this i'm like :jawalrus:

See people this is an example of a real one. Someone who loves and reps where he from, but can call a spade a spade. Like I love the south and rep it to death, but I can say Laffy Taffy was bullshyt. You can rep where you from and not automatically shyt on other places or fail to point out where the place you came from did some great or flaw shyt. Just be real.
