People keep arguing the false platitude that Chris Paul should have gotten the 08 MVP. Let's look at those RAPM numbers and defensive metrics :youngsabo:Pau and Bynum played 30 games total in the regular season and Pau's PER went up when he was playing with Kobe :ahh:Tyson Chandler,David West and Peja were far from scrubs and gave CP3 82 games of a great supporting cast.

Nash deserved both MVPs. The first because he led a Suns team that was sorry the year before to the top seed in a deep West. The 2nd MVP happened by default because he lost the Suns lost prime Amare for the year to microfracture surgery and everybody thought they would fall off, but they finished 2nd in a deep West and Nash improve again statistically. Hard to argue against Nash having those two MVPs. Shaq not getting it in Miami made a lot of sense. He took a playoff team further, but it was his worst statistical season since his rookie year. He had a lot of solid veterans, HOF coach, and an All-Star guard. Shaq should have had at least 1 more MVP during the Lakers 3 peat. The one that Kobe should have went to CP3 anyways.

Nash and CP3 should never have any kind of MVPs next to their names if you think defense is apart of basketball.

I also find it funny that people will say Championships are a team accolade then turn around and say you shouldn't win an MVP unless your TEAM is a top seed. MVPs are just as much a function of winning as titles. FMVP> everything else.

Kobe is a great player but his best years his teams sucked. That's the thing about Kobe, the more he gets off the worst his team does. That's not an MVP IMO. If anything, that's MDP (most detrimental player).

Why should he have more MVP's? His best statistical years his teams weren't doing shyt because he's not a good team player. How valuable can you be going for delf, putting up big numbers for yourself but your team is getting bounced in the first or missing the playoffs altogether?

If anything, maybe he should have 2 but IDK what year the 2nd one would have came in. Can't argue with Nash getting it over him when Nash's team put Kobe's out in the first fukking round. If he was truly the most valuable player he would have taken his team further.

Wat u mean his teammates were garbage he had to average 35

How many all d teams cp3 made and how many times he lead the nba in steals? He doing something out there

"Getting steals" is not sound defense. Plus DRAPM takes that into account and he still grades as a net negative defender in 2008.

Kobe, Dwight, Lebron and Dirk were all better in 2008.

Kobe and CP3 played for the MVP at the end of that season. Kobe's team won, and had the best record, so Kobe won MVP. I honestly can't think of any other years Kobe outright deserved MVP. He wasn't gonna win plays with Shaq, and the year he averaged 35ppg, his team was a 7-seed. I'm not saying Nash should've won either, but I UNDERSTAND the logic. Nash was the only acquisition to the Suns, and they went from missing the playoffs to having the top record. The following year, Nash won again because not only did he put up even better numbers than his MVP year, but they lost Amare (Boris Diaw replaced him in the lineup) and the team didn't even skip a beat.
