yea and that goes to show you who SHOULD have won.
Kobe had a better team though. Lebron also performed better against Orlando than Kobe did. Cleveland had no one that could guard Dwight in the post. It was a match up nightmare for them.

Kobe doesn't have a case over Lebron in 09.

Agreed. That's when their career paths started to diverge. It should happen that way. LeBron is in his prime and Kobe isn't.

Kobe just got caught in a bad circumstance in his prime. Probably one of the only top 10 alltime that didn't have a great team around him at his best.

So was kobe's "prime" a culmination of 3 years? 05 06 and 07?

'05-'08. That was Kobe at a cross of physical and IQ best, like where Bron is at now. Had he a decent team, I think he could've won an MVP at least twice from '06-'08 given his level of play.

But that's what happens when the owner blows up the team to put a new one around you.

People already made cases for Kobe over Dirk and Nash in 06 and 07. He mentioned Lebron in his post. So I pointed out that Lebron wasn't better than Kobe during that period.

1. people making a case dosnt mean shyt
da facts is kobe team was slightly about .500 & didnt make the playoffs outta those 3 yrs while dirk team won 67games & nash won 62 & 54 games
keeping it real 05-06 kobe had a better case to the MVP then nash

2. when did the award ever go to who the better player ?
it suppose to go to who has the best year...

Honestly the fact that Shaq & Kobe only have 2 MVPs between them is a disgrace

They dominated the game for a good 15 years yet the great white hype Steve Nash has as many as both of them combined?? Really ? 2 of the top 5 players to ever breathe are on the same level as Steve fukkin Nash??:what:

thank you.

"well, he was the most VALUABLE to his team."

akin to if you worked for your company for 15 years, and they gave out an award to who was the most valuable salesman. one year, you sold 81 items in one day, a record only beat by one other day of sales, in the history of sales. you were clearly the best salesman on the floor. but the secretary gets the cash bonus and a free trip to aruba because she makes everyones job around her easier. :what:

kobe, one the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball = 1 mvp.

steve f*cking nash = 2 mvps.

take note. the only reason you ignorant f*cks are even HAVING a debate about "what the mvp means to me," is because everyone in the media started that debate when nash won the mvp. when we were growing up, did you EVER, ever ever ever ever hear someone describe the mvp award like that?

How is it Kobe's fault that his teammates sucked and Dirk's and Nash's didn't? A player shouldn't be penalized for playing with worst teammates.

If Lebron was on the Bobcats this year he shouldn't be the MVP?

if thats the case the MVPs for the last decade would've been

00 - Shaq
01 - Shaq
02 - Shaq
03 - Duncan
04 - Duncan
05 - Duncan
06 - Kobe
07 - Kobe
08 - Kobe
09 - Kobe
10 - LeBron
11 - LeBron
12 - LeBron
13 - LeBron

anyone that thinks the mvp awards shouldnt have looked like this for the past 13 years only watches basketball on sportscenter. :bustback:

Its an unwritten rule that the team has to have 50+ wins for the player to win MVP.

thats a media created rule

back in the day when players voted, Kareem got MVP without 50 wins

if players/coaches voted for MVP, Kobe would have 3 by now (06/07/08)

by the same token MJ would prolly have 10

no his prime was 01-09

01-04 was his athletic peak on a dominant team with another top 10 all-time player
05 was injury riddled season
06 and 07 were his overall prime but stuck on bad teams
08-09 were toward the latter end of his prime but he finally had good teams and started winning again
10-12 were injury riddled seasons
13 looks like his resurgence back to his form in 08 and 09

no that is only a new rule after the media started voting for it

Until the 1979–80 season, the MVP was originally selected by a vote of NBA players. However, since the 1980–81 season, the award is decided by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada, each of whom casts a vote for first to fifth place selections.

NBA Most Valuable Player Award - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

before the media vote, Kareem won MVP one year without getting to 50 wins

when the players voted they did a better job than the media
