:picard:Not even fried or baked. Straight up caught that jawn from the creek, hit it against a rock and put it next to the bland spaghetti.

Catfish and spaghetti :wow:

Must be a Great Migration type thing because my family is all from Chicago, Mississippi, Memphis, Detroit, etc and we always had it at family gatherings. All the fish and chicken spots would sell spaghetti as a side too. I'm surprised how regional it appears to be.

Yea it's a very specific regional thing because other parts of the south look at you crazybwhen you say fish/spaghetti

Memphis detroit chicago FOR SURE share some type of lineage

The Truth
Black hillbilly staple. Never met a nikka in my life that eat that shyt together. :skip:
Are you from the south?

Hillbilly is hilarious if you haven’t been down here enough to comment. That shyt is not uncommon nor just a “hillbilly” dish.

It’s not even a special “dish” like that. It’s just shyt thats not uncommon to cook.

But lets put you nikkas favorite new toy “AI” to actual work again:

Catfish and spaghetti is indeed a popular dish in certain regions of the Southern United States, particularly within African American communities, and also in parts of the Midwest
.

Here's why this pairing has a strong presence in Southern foodways:
  • Historical Roots: The tradition of pairing fried fish with spaghetti as a side dish in the Deep South is tied to the influx of Italian immigrants to states like Mississippi and Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
  • Soul Food Tradition: In Black Southern kitchens, fried fish and spaghetti has become a time-honored combination, often considered a comfort food staple, according to Ev's Eats.
  • Culinary Fusion: This pairing represents a delightful blending of Southern comfort food traditions with Italian influences.
  • Adaptability: The dish showcases the adaptability of food in Southern culture, as families experiment with combinations that make them feel at home.

But most people outside of the south can’t cook anyway so not expecting them to know shyt like this :yeshrug:
