As a souls stan I'm mildly befuddled by the Elden Ring love

Great game but while it translated the core formula to an open world design format very competently, I'm not sure that resulted in an obviously better game than it's high point predecessors like Sekiro, Bloodborne, DS3, etc.

Pretty much the same feeling BOTW/ TOTK gives me with Zelda :yeshrug:

Its really only a few optional bosses that reused animations from previous bosses.

People acting like 70 percent of elden ring was lazily recycled content are full of shyt.

Out of like 80+ bosses there only 9-10 unique bosses in whole game.

The conversation is about Elden ring being mostly asset flips of bosses in older souls games.

The reused boss argument for ER is whatever. I'm trying to think of main story bosses thats you fight over and over and drawing a blank.

Its like the sidequest shyt in FF7R you are complaining about a problem you literally dont even have to interact with if it bothers you.

Nobody moved the goal post

This is the conversation being had

I dont know why you quoted someone else to respond to me.

Both conversations are being had.

This was the original post you responded to:

ER is like 70% of reused assets. At least CP2077, E33 and BG3 are unique experience

E33 uses alot of store bought assets and bg3 plays like divinity original sin reskinned.

I dont understand the issue with reused assets if its done well, which elden ring was.

Don't sit here and tell me "DOS2" is reskinned and "E33" is using prebuilt assets when From just announced another "Nightreign" expansion....featuring Artorias.

Are you talking about a different DOS2? I legit don’t understand how you don’t see the similarities
:patrice:

Actually, you could make the argument that BG3 is more similar to DOS1 but either way those games obviously set the foundation BF3 is built from

Side note, this thread made me go boot up another run of BG3 lol

I do see similarities with "BG3". It isn't a reskinned "DOS2" though, which was the statement I was addressing.

Likewise, "Lies Of P", "Black Myth: Wukong", "Berserker Khazan", "Wuchang: Fallen Feathers", "Nioh" 1, 2, & 3, etc. are similar to "Dark Souls" 1, 2, & 3. I wouldn't say they are just reskinned games, either.

"Elden Ring" plays exactly the same as "Dark Souls", 3 in particular. It reuses the same textures, models, animations, and in some cases enemies.

On top of that there's an insane amount of copy + pasting in the game itself.

Fred.
