His work/life balance is much better than mine. Most of these "day in the life of a software engineer" videos do not come close to any reality I've seen and I've been in the field for 7 years now.

:francis:
Sounds ironic, but I feel like these type of videos are more common with those who work at FAANGs or startups. Ironic because a lot of FAANG engineers work less than their non-FAANG counterparts. :dahell:

Not saying you not #FAANGset :whoa:

I'm not, I went through the Google interview process earlier this year with maybe a month of prep and made it all the way to the final round. It stung to get that rejection email but it also let me know what time it is, I'm going to go through the process again next summer now that I have a better sense of how to game the interviews.

Yeah there are but, but the job description from hr will probably contain a bunch of fluff like:

- 3+ years of python,
-2 years of Qlik / Tableau.
-5 years of SQL

Just look out for job titles like: Data Engineering, Business Analyst or Data Analyst
This is my skill set lol

Do you grind Leetcode? I'm a self taught full stack web developer. These Leetcode questions seem out of my depth, as i never did Computer Science.

example: Loading...

Given the head of a linked list, reverse the nodes of the list k at a time, and return the modified list.

k is a positive integer and is less than or equal to the length of the linked list. If the number of nodes is not a multiple of k then left-out nodes, in the end, should remain as it is.

You may not alter the values in the list's nodes, only nodes themselves may be changed.

The way they ask the question is confusing as fukk to me. I'm a visual learner :mjcry: I feel retarded reading this question and i am proficient in:

HTML/CSS
Javascript/JQuery/Typescript
NodeJS
Django
Python
PHP
Nuxt/Vue
Flask
SQL
ExpressJS
Linux CLI
AWS and many more..

ssh into ec2 instance, go to directory

sudo chown -R ubuntu:ubuntu .
git pull origin master
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data .
sudo systemctl restart nginx
sudo systemctl restart uwsgi

This is what i always do, now out of the blue changes aren't showing :mjcry:

Did you check the status of both?

Houston to LA like I'm Robert Horry.
No exaggeration changed my life. I remember telling my parents that the next few years of my life was going to be hell working and at the same time learning this shyt but told them it be worth it. And boy was it :wow:

It’s not a get rich quick scheme which I try to tell my boys when I put them on and it’s not easy, but certainly attainable if you work towards it. Very few jobs out there offer the ridiculous salaries you can get in this field (300k+ in FAANG), have HIGH demand, and you don’t have to go to school for stupid amount of time and rack up hundreds of thousands in student loans to achieve it.

My prep began with a "beat the interview" course from Udemy, Leetcode is helpful in helping you identify what type of question you're being asked and developing strategies to tackle that type of question. You don't necessarily need a CS background to beat these interviews. Had I prepared for three months before going into the process, I am very confident that I would have been hired.

I was thinking that we needed to start a new megathread and get the programming interview game going for thecoli. Being stuck on the 6 certs game is played out. These cacs and asians are killing the interview prep game right now and getting all the FAANG money. There's too few of us brehs on this tip. I've been the only breh in my whole damn department/company for the last 13 years now.
That and referrals, I was extremely blessed to land my internship earlier this year without one, though it was through my school's job/internship board. It really opens your eyes to who actually knows their shyt and who doesn't.
