Part of the reason there is so much opposition to this, a large part, is that capitalism is so insidiously infected into all of this country and it's occupants, whether they are aware or not. I see no issue with this, other then our delusional love for 'hard work', it's not that I really want or need it for myself, but people should have a chance, they should have more then that, they should have some small comfort and relief. If they want to climb the corporate ladder or become entrepenuers, they can, and they will at least have a slight leg to stand on.

:yeshrug: I love economic empowerment personally, but I cant argue against the market forces that are pushing us to a UBI solution

Its the only solution there to prevent calamity and people are still caught up in being ideologues.

Why should a small group of people get to control actual resources needed to sustain life while billions fight over paper that only has value cause we agree to it and every one of these magical pieces of paper causes more debt?

In the current system we literally cannot get out of debt. In a world where everything needed to sustain life has been given to us and regenerates itself, we agree to allow the .01% control us out of the fear of the socialist and communist boogie men, when in reality capitalism has probably done just as much harm as the two and will someday be looked at with just as much disgust.

It's a delusion created via brainwashing, almost a mental retardation, for the average person to not want everyone to share the world's resources. Why would anyone in their right mind choose an atmosphere of conflict?

The best part is the white collar people playing tough on these matters. When shyt hits the fan and many of your jobs are gone via automation, you're not built to fight over resources with goons who've had nothing to lose since birth. And your college degree and $70k a year job doesn't qualify you as elite nor make you immune to what's coming.

Everyone should be praying for UBI. If done right, it gives people the ability to actually enjoy life and pursue something they love or are passionate about. In no world should the average citizen be working 5-6 days a week 8+ hrs a day, and at no point in time, except the 19th century, was that the case.

Preindustrial workers worked fewer hours than today's

We're living in a new Dark Age and most of us don't even know it.

This is inevitable, a lot of people just don't want to accept it. :yeshrug:

When millions of jobs dry up as a result of automation, that's exactly what will happen.
Unless his prophecy comes true:

:mjlol:We can't even get universal healthcare in this country. He's acknowledging there will be a major problem of what to do with all these people who will be displaced economically, but the truth is there is already a plan. They don't plan on any of us being here to enjoy this technological utopia, once enough of the mundane tasks for society have been automated expect a massive world war to cull the world population down to a manageable 500 million tops.

The social conditioning of capitalism is truly shocking and surprising to me sometimes.....At it's heart is division and classism, almost exactly in the way Marx describes. In a more existential perspective, the absurdity and tragedy of it all is just brutal. For people to have to wake up and work 40-50 hours a week from offices to hard labor, for the small comforts that affords them, for the REST OF THEIR LIVES is just heinous. It's stockholm syndrome for most of the population. Imagine being so misguided and brainwashed you long for the days when you were a coal miner. A fukking coal miner. It's deranged. I imagine some of the population actually truly loves work, a smaller percent. The rest is just pure conditioning. We are taught to value work, and create so much of our self concept and self ID around it, I think many only think they love work, because if you took it away, they wouldn't know who they are anymore. And then then pure pyschological aspects, in the way work creates easy goals to complete, and fuel our self worth, on a daily, weekly, monthly, basis.

I know he got really bizarre, and pretty disgusting in some of later works, but I like this quote from Nietzche about work

"
“We labour at our daily work more ardently and thoughtlessly than is necessary to sustain our life because it is even more necessary not to have leisure to stop and think. Haste is universal because everyone is in flight from himself.”

And then they embrace the system, or worse, clamor for dereugulation defunding of social programs. Like JahFocusCs has said the cut off your hands to spite your face. I, of course, don't believe in God, so, there is no 'Why' as to what we are doing here. There's no literal higher purpose. But, to think that millions are simply exploited, for their labor, to fund the forces that hover above us, vast corporations, the billboards we see, the commercials blaring, it's just bleak.

And what's missing is for many, it's a totally hollow reflection of who they are, and based solely on an extreme economic incentive to provide.

There will never be a UBI in the usa. Now the case can be made for other countries.. but that is a non-starter here

Isn't this what the future was supposed to look like. Automation of hard labor jobs, an educated workforce where everyone needs to work three days a week? I saw it on the Jetsons damn it.

:francis: You didnt see no Black people on the jetsons either...where did they go??

:jbhmm:Come to think of it ..theres also no handicapped,gays,asians,latinos,.....things were mighty white on the jetsons set...

its like Hitlers dream...yet this was made in the 60s long after the Nazis " lost" the war

I am as big of a proponent of basic income as anyone else however i have failed to see a solution in sight.

Ive mentioned before marx called this in regards to capitalism...it will reach a point where in the pursuit of coin we devise ways to further create divisions between the ruling class and the plebs

In every argument ive seen for it, i have rarely seen an economic solution that will take money away from the true players and distribute it to the rest of us...

How will inflation work? Wont gdp equilibrium just be re established through cost manipulation?
Where is this money coming from?
What happens to current welfare programs?
Etc etc

I personally think that people naturally want to work but it is most in regards to shyt they have a passion in...there will aways be innovators and doctors etc etc, but it allows for people to pursue other creative outlets not related to their jobs. I am ALL for this.

However once again i think the solution lies somewhere between totsl UBI and just monthly checks given out depending on your current economic status. U poor u get more money per month...u rich u get less...u get less poor u get less monthly...

Idk seems pointless if u recognize humans are a shytty species and i find it quite laughable that normal fukks think this falls anywhere in their shytty future plans
