I try to be nice.

But you are fukking retarded.

The reason Philly has continued to tank, is to acquire as much talent as possible... which is the guard against one of those picks not panning out.

In the knicks' case: which you are dim-wittingly-referring to... the Knicks had to tank because they had ONLY ONE SHOT at a high pick.

And that is because they have been stupidly selling out their future for mediocre in the moment moves for the better part of the last two decades. This team would be in GREAT position if they owned next year's pick... but they don't.

Do you want to talk about why the Knicks don't own next year's pick? Or would you rather avoid it...

Because it crushes your simplistic understanding of the sport as a business. :sas2:

Again... you wanted this team to compete and play hard and show grit this season, instead of tanking. And they did JUST THAT in the last three games of the season. And it cost us the first pick.

You wanna talk about that too, or nah? :whoo:

If Joel never plays another game... this team will have Nerlens/Saric/Towns as their core. Which is better than they would have if they'd tried to play hard and sign free agents over the last two seasons.

A couple of short hand notes to help you understand the game:
  • Basketball is about acquiring talent and assembling it. Just like all sports.
  • The knicks got a top 4 pick, and a bunch of cap space.
  • They will use BOTH of those things to add talent to the roster.
  • If they had won 25 game this season, they would have a mid-round pick and cap space
    • That would give them LESS ability to acquire talent.
  • The knicks were shytty last year, when you thought they'd be a playoff team
  • The knicks will likely be shytty THIS year, as well...
  • But that is okay, because teams making shrewd decisions can make a leap quickly
  • Like the Warriors, or the Heat before them, or the Celtics before them...
  • Bad luck is not bad theory or bad execution

Print this out. Keep it next to your computer for when you're thinking about responding to a post of mine.

It will make things easier on the both of us. :knickphil:
MAn shut the fukk up "professor " I wanted them to play hard at the beginning of the season once they started losing I didn't say that at all so :camby: and once again you refuse to see the point that tanking no matter how many times guarantees you nothing . You keep just rambling because you can't argue tanking guarantees anything so stfu

Who has ever said it's a guarantee? But it's a better plan then trying to trade away draft picks and cap space on flawed players just to try to make the playoffs as soon as possible like the Knicks have done

Ok so why the argument ? My whole point was if we just signed melo and wasted money on Calderon by trading for him at the time the Knicks weren't planning to tank . I said if we suck fine then tank , but we aren't signing melo to a max deal to then sixer style tank. Phil is old and only has a 5 year deal I doubt he wants to waste 2-3 of the deal trying to tank after signing melo. He was all prior offseason saying how Phil didn't want melo etc and planned to tank which was wrong . I wanted melo , Phil who he treats as a genius signed melo to a near max despite him disagreeing with the signing . How exactly can he sit there and make it seem like he's always right

Don't know if this has been said, but the sixers are missing the point.

People go to work, come home and go to the game because they want to see a competitive outing win or lose.

The sixers have destroyed that. All in hopes of what, eventually having a team that can compete?

To me a lil silly. Plus when you build a pedigree of losing like that its harder to break out of than they realize.

Like they can just turn it on one day.

Thank you . In the nfl purposeful tanking makes more sense to me than the nba where it's a crap shoot about what pick you can get. You can be tanking to get #9 pick :scusthov: the talent pool is so limited it's tough

I think if Sixers don't improve at all over last year Heinke gets canned. Collecting assets is great, but at some point there has to be an end game and use those assets towards putting a better product on the court in the present instead of gambling on the future.

tanking ... guarantees you nothing . You keep just rambling because you can't argue tanking guarantees anything

You are simple. The only thing it guarantees is a shot at more talent in the draft. That is what I have said from the very beginning.

You continue to whine and bytch like a 5 year old, because nothing guarantees success immediately ever right now.

Tanking gives you a better chance at more players in the draft. A wider selection, and therefore a larger opportunity to find good players. It is a STATISTICAL CERTAINTY that having a higher pick, gives you more players to choose from. This is not an argument or a theory, it is a given.

You don't understand basketball as a sport.
You don't understand basketball as a business.

You don't even understand the fukking knicks... you looked at a Calderon/THJR/Shump/Melo/Dalembert lineup last year and thought it was a playoff team. You are an embarrassment to Knick fans, because you ARE the cartoon that people use to lampoon us.

The knicks were historically fukking awful, they have a top four pick, they have an ocean of cap space, and you want to talk about Joel Embiid getting hurt as if that has any impact on the knicks or the fact that they secured a top 5 pick by losing, and would have had the number one if they would have stuck to that plan fully.

You are also consistently thrown off by posts with more than 20 words, which I find hilarious and sad at the same time. It took me 20 second to type this whole post, and you'll likely be fatigued before you see the phrase wider selection.

Ad hominem attacks on forums is funny...

But Ad Hominem attacks in threads dedicated to creating a space for fans of a particular team to talk is ridiculously lame.

People out here stunting with their sports knowledge as if there is a journalist or team scout looking to pick up the no. 1 pick sports opinion.

shyt like that makes this thread toxic as fukk...

So possibly Lance to Clippers for Hawes & Barnes...hmm...That Calderon/Timmy deal I suggested is better though.

Ha @ me trying to hard to get rid of those two.:russ:

With respect to draft talk...Curry's play has really made me big on Russell now. Imagine if Russell can be even 70% on that talent.

Another rambling ass post saying nothing :heh: suuuuure it took you 20 seconds professor . You just want to argue and that's it , you agree me then proceed to write a dissertation about the benefits of tanking .... You already agreed with my point that tanking guarantees nothing so what's the point of the rest of that garbage . You act like the east is the west and a melo led team couldn't make the playoffs in the east

I said from the beginning of tanking I always wanted a elite guard but I didn't watch Russell or no enough about mudiay . I hope one of the two is an elite guard if we pick them

They will probably have Russell or Okafor with Noel next year. They really don't need to tank anymore. Build a team, put shooters around Noel and probably russell, call it a fukking day. That's a competitive team in the east. What philly is trying to do is almost use the draft to guarantee themselves to the finals but it doesn't work like that. You gotta start competing at some time.
