What makes this tough to decide is that both have improved tremendously on their perceived weaknesses. Jokic has improved tremendously as a defender while Embiid has improved tremendously as a passer and playmaker. So I feel like the only way to decide is by figuring out which player has improved the most in the aspects of their game that they previously struggled at. At the moment it's a wash for me. I'll go with Embiid being better at his peak but Jokic being more consistent with his greatness

We gotta stop with the “Jokic is better on offense but embiid is better on defense, and the gap in defense is bigger so embiid is better” take. It just doesn’t work that way. No one would say “Steph is a much better offensive player than davion Mitchell, but Mitchell is a much better defender, so they’re basically equals”.

Also, it’s not close or even on offense. Embiid is a great big man scorer, Jokic is the entire offense.

Bruh, I've got Jokic slightly ahead of Embiid but this is a terrible comparison. Davion Mitchell averages 9 points per game lmao. To suggest that the gap between Jokic and Embiid (who actually averages more points than Jokic though on worse efficiency) offensively is in anyway comparable to the gap between Steph and Davion on offense is ridiculous and proof that you're not making this argument in good faith.

And yes, Jokic is a better playmaker than Embiid but when you say "it's not close" on offense, that's just proof that you haven't watched Embiid play at all this year. Dude initiates the entire Sixers offense, has played point center on multiple occasions and is doing it with his point guard sitting on the bench. You correctly called out the people who dismissed Jokic's defensive improvements while completely dismissing Embiid's playmaking improvements

People are repeating the takes from a couple of years ago not realizing Embiid has been playing point center this year for the sixers. His turnovers are at career lows and assists are at a career high.

His decision-making once the double comes is more impressive to me than him dropping 30 a night.

Y’all just say anything huh :mjlol:
He is :manny:

He is the Denver playmaker, great jumper, the best half court passing big since Walton and he a scorer.

“Ya’ll just be saying anything” is you doing that because there hasn’t been a big with his offensive skill set.

Yeah, like the dude correctly called out the people who repeated the old takes on Jokic and then turned around and repeated the old takes on Embiid in the most ridiculous way possible. This guy really name dropped Davion Mitchell lmao

Let him do this for at least another 5 years with some playoff success then maybe we can talk.

Shaq
Embiid
Duncan
Hakeem
Garnet
Dirk
Kareem
Wilt

:unimpressed: Should I keep going? I don’t even know what you’re basing your statement on, a few regular season games?
Now go back and look at my post. Only KG is who you would consider a playmaker, and he was not the main playmaker on any of his teams like Jokic is.

None of the players you listed are in the same galaxy as a passer as Jokic, and only Dirk is as good of a shooter. I never said Jokic is the scorer like Kareem or Wilt or Shaq either.

You typing a lot and still not going against what I said because you are writing out of emotions.

For everyone talking about Embiid's defense, obviously haven't watched a whole lot of his play this season. He's been far from elite/dominant, which only stands to reason with the workload he has on offense.

Embiid is a 2-way player, Jokic isn’t.
Even if this were true (which it isn't), being a two-way player doesn't automatically make you a better player and/or have more impact.

Embiid probably has the best argument for rounding out the top-5 (Giannis, Steph, Jokic and KD are set in stone as the top-4), but that's about as far as it goes, at the moment. He ain't fukking with Jokic. He's gonna have to prove it over a longer period of time and continue it in the playoffs for there to be an argument.
