It's an unpopular opinion but I think it's Em's best album after The Eminem Show. IMO it's really a concept album and should be listened to with that in mind. This was the last time Em and Dre both felt super creative. I don't know how it was made, but it sounds like they locked themselves away and just made what the fukk they felt like making. Even though it has some misses it's maybe THE LEAST 'corporation/executive/record label fukking with the product' Em album I've ever heard.

Dre has some absolute bangers on there and I think he produced everything except for 1 or maybe 2 tracks, tops. And even though Em does the accents, this is the last time I remember him actually flowing seamlessly. He had ridiculous cadences and pockets, but he didn't sound like he was trying super hard to be a good rhymer. After Relapse, Em noticeably starts to work too hard and do too much to make crazy words rhyme.

Recovery he went all the way commercial and way too much pop shyt.. then he went into the "GOD MC" shyt that we see today and it's had mixed results..

If he would've just not done the accent people would've been more receptive to Relapse...then he wouldn't have resorted to the angry robot flow and bland cac rap.

That's actually the original way he rapped. That "Rap God" song is just a rehash of a track he did almost 30 years ago. But I agree with you.

I agree with @TheDarceKnight. After his first three classics, Relapse is Eminem's best project. I don't see that ever changing, especially as we get into the 2020s and Eminem is even more removed from the mentality that put this together.

The one thing I'll never get over is that Eminem thinks Relapse is his worst album. I really don't see how he could think that. I know creators don't always feel the same way about their work as fans do, but this guy is the most famous rap nerd on the planet. He can't hear all those different flows, the way he adjusts his delivery on every track, the rhyme schemes? He really thinks Encore and Revival are better, more cohesive projects? :mindblown:

Always bothered me as well... and fukk it, I been saying Relapse was his last great album! The accents were whatever to me at the time, but sadly, the rhymes and flows are vastly overlooked because of them... smh

a lot of people hated on it. I think it has the best combination of lyrics, content and beats.. Dre produced a lot of tracks

those dre beats and mixing >
It's crazy that with all these dre beats people said it was ass, aside from the accents this album goes.

nah not unpopular to me, shyt is facts though. putting the stupid accent aside slim went crazy on this project and like you said the production was A1. back when i first started posting in the booth me and my slime @SunZoo were discussing this shyt. it gets unfair hate because when you analyze the full body of work it is actually very strong. at the time it shocked me because i honestly thought he might be done

Always felt Relapse was a great album. Hello really should have been the first single from it too. It was catchy and had a dope beat. Could have left wack ass We Made You off the album completely :scust:

Stay Wide Awake in my opinion is Eminem's best song ever.

My favorite Em album, easily.

His artistic peak? Nah, but when it comes to beats, rhymes and the thematic nature of Em's music it's the most potent combination of everything that is dope (and weird/off putting.) about Eminem.
