Eminem being white saved him from being relegated to the Redman, Ludacris, and E-40 tier of rappers

What’s with the Redman disrespect in the Booth :mjtf:

I’ve seen it all in here

nikkas saying Luda is above Red

Red can’t do what Eminem can

The Booth is a fukking waste dump

I knew when i made the “name your favorite top 25 Redman songs thread” and it only got a few replies and the thread flopped, most of the nikkas in here downplaying Red’s prime years in the game, ain’t got the slightest idea of the shyt they talking bout

ludacris one of the most commercial successful rappers ever
whats your point

Yeah every single one of the rappers in the OP are platinum plus with storied careers…I don’t think he went far enough…that’s too measured and conservative of a take

I submit being white saved Em from the Rass Kass, Royce, Canibus tier of rappity rap lyrical miracle types…without the novelty of being white a lot of the initial commercial appeal isn’t there to get him to the point Dre, Jim, and the interscope machine put the rocket on him…it’s not he had some grass roots local buzz to where superstardom was inevitable….not being white increases the likelihood he falls into that Rawkus records orbit of acts…and he falls squarely into the other side of the underground/mainstream divide from the late 90s…and once he’s there it changes the trajectory entirely

The Last Emperor was supposed to be what Eminem ended up becoming and the difference between them ain't really skin color...a black approximation of what kind of career a similar level of talent and opportunity would get you is Kendrick Lamar, not Ludacris or Canibus.
They won't like this one. 100% accurate:lolbron:

"Because he's WHITE" in my Melle Mel voice.

I aint even gonna do the back and forth shyt. Em's music and rebelious cac teen spirit aka wiggaism resonates with most of his listeners aka cacs or cac adjacent. You add the fu-schnickens lyricism and you end up with the world declaring him the GOAT. That's it. Thats not to say what he does isnt impressive but it doesnt impress me. It doesnt sit with me and have me ponder on my philosophy.

I don't even know the point of the thread. Eminem is the most overrated rapper ever. We all know why. Even Em has alluded to it in his songs very early in his career. His fanbase is littered with people who simultaneously don't even listen to rap, but call him the goat...it is what it is.

Just leave Redman the fukk out of this. That man got three classics. None of them other nikkas (including Em) can say the same.

Couldn’t do or chose not to do?

Red could’ve easily done what Em did in his prime. Y’all underestimate just how much great lyricist and emcee Red was in the 90’s

Red in his prime could stand toe to toe with anyone on the mic and hold his own.

Making “serious songs” wasn’t his style per say, but he was more than talented enough to make “serious” songs

choose not to? ok? he didnt

yall dont understand that the biggest thing that seperates Nas and jayz and in this case tho lower all time eminem from a lot of artists is subject matter is crazy limited for a ton of artists. i love redman, he has an amazingly small amount of subject matter, maybe less than any other top 10 rapper all time? prolly now that i think about it

also the HIGHS of an Eminem redman just isnt seeing. Till I collapse, Stan, The way I am, lose yourself, --- those are ICONIC singles...redman doesnt have that and thats ok, but yes it gets taken into account

Shoulda supported Redman more :yeshrug: Red was on years before Eminem.. it’s not his fault people mostly remember his days with Method Man. And Ludacris is why Ludacris ended up having the career he had. By the time he was really trying to be on some hiphop shyt it was too late. Dude can rap but people were not taking him seriously as a rapper. People were just jammin to the couple songs of his that they liked

Redmans projects post 2000 just were not that great and I love red, the quality wasnt there, the singles wernt really there either.

I mean i would say prolly Blackout 2 is his best project post 2002?
