Eminem got clout, right? So why continue to go the Pop route with his music?

Yeah, I see what u saying.
IMO, that album was just him like going full throttle with shyt and just going over the top with shyt but repeating himself with annoying ass voices.
But I do see what u saying when u speak on him actually rhyming on Relapse compared to the albums that have come out since then.
It crazy how he's really more like Taylor or Katy than Nas or Jay-Z when it comes to being artist tho.
But again, that's cause his ass stay making Pop shyt! lmao

I think this is the best way to describe it: Eminem is the SpongeBob of rap. :russ:

The first three albums (or seasons) ranged from good to classic, they both were supposed to end in 2004 (the first SpongeBob movie was originally the series finale), they both came back as lesser, but decent forms of themselves, and they just kept getting worse from that point.

But at least with SpongeBob, it's been pretty good since the second movie. Eminem needs that "second movie," to sum it up. :lolbron:

"Eminem" is a corporate entity.

If you think he would rather cram songs with Pink and Ed Sheran on his album than do joints with Royce or his new signees you haven't been paying attention.

And I know in my original post I asked why he ain't never did songs with Redman, Masta Ace, Nas, Andre 3000 (even tho he has done a song w/ Redman)
I meant in regards to collaborating when it comes to his albums.

Them nikkas ain't making Interscope no money, Eminem albums are INTERSCOPE PRODUCT, PERIOD.

He's been having to to obligatory shyt from jump and has bytched and moaned about it. You think him selling like he did gave him MORE leeway? That just made his releases even more vital for the labels bottom line. He tried to drop MMLP with "The Way I Am" as the first single and was told it wasn't getting pressed up until they had another goofy single that could duplicate My Name Is success, that was the formula so he did what he was asked.

Speaking of Redman he was trying to sign him and Pharoah Monch to Shady...but the deal probably fell through because they were going to sit on the shelf like the bulk of that roster at the time because they were not going to press up albums for rappers out of respect of them being legends.

It's why that SH album won't see the light of day. Not enough ROI to warrant giving them another chance.

Yeah. I hear and agree, but the thing is, now with where he is at this stage of his career, to me it looks like he'd have more leeway.
I mean, Eminem is always gon be Eminem cause he's made his mark and impact on music already but it's not like he's at the height of his popularity.
So I don't see why now in 2018, the label wouldn't be more open to him "spreading his wings" and breaking away from the formula.
He'll always have his core audience like any artist does, so it's not like it's a make or break situation at this point. He ain't a new artist.

I remember back when Red and Monch were suppose to sign w/ Shady and I remember thinking that would've been a good look for them so long as the label wouldn't dilute their art. But I thought it would've been a good look cause Red had been going through it with Def Jam at that time.

Damn shame how these labels be trying to milk shyt until the point of no return.

Man, if he dropped a damn album with Premier and Alchemist on the beats and Nas and Masta Ace as guest, that shyt would be so much better than the shyt he been doing. I think it would put the battery in his back to really make a straight forward Hip Hop album.

Eminem is a cash cow for Interscope, he went diamond twice... he ain't gonna make "Hip Hop" like that...ever

That's asking why Michael Jackson never made a soul album.

Some nikka was in one thread talmbout "How come Em doesn't do a song with pete rock".

:russ:

He spent a whole album whining about having to put out an album. He'd have to wait his contract out or drop under a different stage name to do a fraction of the shyt people want.

The best way for Interscope to move forward with Em is, if Dre is going to be on Neptune instead of producing providing the musicality for Em, they need to let Kendrick EP his next project. I know one of you idiots from the label is reading this, take heed.

I haven't even payed attention to Revival but hopefully it flopped hard enough for them not to trot him back out when he's 50 to run with that formula. He wouldn't even show up to the video he was supposed to do for Pink's album.

I doubt Em ever fukks with Primo or Alchemist on his albums ever. He coulda been worked with them since forever and hasn't. Especially since Al is his tour DJ and Royce is so close to Premier.

Then again, you can make a similar argument for a lot of legends. Primo ain't been on a Nas album since Stillmatic and a Jay album since Vol. 3.

That was me who said he should work with Pete Rock.
It'd be cool to see him spitting over a Pete Rock beat, cause them bland and generic beats he been spitting over ain't what's up. lol
That song Careful What U Wish For song is 1 of his best songs. The beat is plain but at least he won't doing the accents and he was actually spitting and not yelling.

The label and the people running are dumb, they are still marketing him like it's 2004.

And then you gotta ask yourself, from TES on up...who has been next in line let? What Lady Gaga? She's washed already. There is no replacing Eminem for them, and once he begins to top out sales wise like a regular artist there is no climbing back up that mountain. And being that it's about streams they thought Pink, Ed Sheran, Alicia Keys, Beyonce and even a rumored Adele track would keep the bar high enough to do this all over again. Him flopping would be a saving grace.

Now that Paul is running Def Jam, it would make sense for him to finish out his contract and slide over there where he can be marketed like a rapper rather than a pop sensation. I don't know if that's the plan but it should be.

Yeah, I agree 100% w/ all of this. Yup. Good post, on point!

Eminem hasn't put out a good album since The Eminem Show. That was 2002. 16 years ago. Let that sink in.

He's done. I just wish he would retire at this point.

LMAO IT WAS YOU.

It would be dope but I just know that it would be super low priority if not completely off the table for the label. Like that Don't Front joint he did with Buckshot ended up a bonus..yet it was the best song associated with the project, stupid shyt.

Speaking of Em over Pete Rock, I dont' know if you heard this tape.

There's also no Hip Hop cultural component to his rollouts (used to be pop star beefs, gimmick lead singles...now it's 'Murica!!). No interviews with cultural outlets, no appearances, no hype outside of major label approved power moves etc

Nor is there a musical component. No behind the scenes, making of type-media out there. Either because the process is bland and uninteresting, or because they want to hide the real Marshall from us, clearly

Very top-down, machine driven, with little transparency. Very unlike the way rappers get promoted in 2018

Yeah, lmao!
It would be but u right and I know how label politics work, which is bullshyt. But yeah.
I liked that Don't Front shyt, I remember a DJ playing that shyt on the radio and I was like "oh ok, he coming with some Hip Hop shyt now!"
Then when I heard the Berzerk single, I was like "naw!" lmao
I remember seeing something bout this Eminem and Pete mashup but I never did check it out. I'll check it out tonight.
Thanks for the reminder!
