Eminem got clout, right? So why continue to go the Pop route with his music?

Why not get Premier, Alchemist, and Black Milk, to cook him up some damn beats for his albums?
Why he keep trying to appease the Pop world with the typical Top 40 Pop single?
If u Hip Hop, why make a Pop album?
Eminem writes own shyt, is a lyricist and MC, yet when it come to his albums, he goes the Pop route.
He got all the money in the world and 1 of the elder statesman in Hip Hop, why he still gotta stick to the formula?
And another thing, why he don't never reach out to the vets he love and idolized?
He got all the love in the world for Redman, Masta Ace, Nas, Andre 3000 but never did songs w/ them. Why?

Why does this masts ace guy sound so much like Eminem? It's like he's copying his flow or something.

I read a comment on the net that made a good point - he's making music for large festivals and tour runs, particularly overseas concerts. This is music to pander to packed European crowds and I think there's a lot of truth to that.

Also, dude is just an aging out of touch sellout. That happens when you gain vast wealth and success. He doesn't give a fukk about the culture he started in, lol. He cares about money. He gets his money appeasing his mainstream fans, particularly the younger, newer fans, cuz those are the kids who buy music on itunes and shyt. Probably the same fans who got into him during Recovery and MMLP2. These are the same kids who have no clue who Primo or Alchemist are.

The real funny thing is I remember Em doing an online interview for fans when he was still kinda underground but had signed with Dre, where he alluded to Nas selling out with It Was Written. Christ, time and history redeemed Nasir like a motherfukker. I would fukking love for 2018 Marshall to say that shyt. Wonder what 98 Marshall would think of 2018 Marshall, for that matter.

Also, he did do a song with Reggie way back in the day.

Because it wouldn't sell

Yes it would.
Eminem is at a point in his career where he got a set fan base and he gon always sell in some regard.
Once u been around long enough and u done made ya mark, u gon always sell to an extent.
He ain't gon sell or do the numbers he use to do regardless. Times done changed and his popularity is nowhere near it was in 99' to 04'.
Nobody stays on top forever.

Eminem signed to Interscope and became a creation that was an MC that could compete in the same space as Nsync, Britney Spears, and the Backstreet Boys commercially. By dissing them, he pretty much usurped their audience. Therefore, since SSLP, he's had a mass appeal he couldn't maintain by making an album that strictly appealed to Hip Hop heads. They tested the waters with Relapse and having Dre nearly produce and co-produce every song. It did numbers (largely due to him not releasing music for nearly 4 years). When Recovery doubled the numbers with a more Pop sound, it was over.

If he made a strictly Hip Hop album now, it'd probably be more modern sounding with Boi-1da, Mike Will, Metro Booming type production vs. him getting Premo, Alchemist (the most under used asset in the Aftermath/Shady arsenal) etc. He'd also probably lean more towards 2Chainz, Future, Kendrick Lamar, Drake features.

CACs buying it :manny:

But are they really still invested in him like they were in the 2000's?
There's been a whole new generation of young cacs that have grown up in an era where Eminem was pretty much the "old guy in the club" at this point.
It's probably more young cacs of today that like The Migos more than Eminem cause they the current artist of their time.

The thing is he isn't appeasing them either. Alot of the younger generation think he's trash compared to people like Drake and Kendrick. If he wanted to appease the younger crowd he would of got Metroboomin or Mike Will made it for some of the production.

He's putting out Middle age cac rap music. I mean real talk who the fukk is getting Rick Rubin to produce there whole album these days.

True :ehh:
Good post.
I just don't see how it seem like he ain't got more say so or don't take the lead in doing what he wants to do.
Everything with his recent albums all seem so label driven; like he ain't got a say in the world in how he wants to do his shyt.
But what do I know, maybe all the music he been doing for the last few years has been the exact direction he's wanted to go in.
It's just puzzling to me when he be giving all the props in the world to MCs like Redman and Masta Ace and never works with them.

He said he wanted to make an album with something for everyone. That rarely works with a piece of art. You can't make everyone happy, so present your vision and hope people like it.

As another example, I think Jay tried to make everyone happy on Holy Grail with something for everyone and it didn't quite work, but for 4:44, he presented a vision that wasn't for everyone, but it was his vision and he was going to see it through. For a lot of people, it worked, and in large part it worked because it had artistic integrity.
