Eminem got clout, right? So why continue to go the Pop route with his music?

The thing is he isn't appeasing them either. Alot of the younger generation think he's trash compared to people like Drake and Kendrick. If he wanted to appease the younger crowd he would of got Metroboomin or Mike Will made it for some of the production.

He's putting out Middle age cac rap music. I mean real talk who the fukk is getting Rick Rubin to produce there whole album these days.

When I said young fans, I particularly met white Midwestern teenyboppers and shyt lol. I know the black youth definitely ain't fukking with him.

He said he wanted to make an album with something for everyone. That rarely works with a piece of art. You can't make everyone happy, so present your vision and hope people like it.

As another example, I think Jay tried to make everyone happy on Holy Grail with something for everyone and it didn't quite work, but for 4:44, he presented a vision that wasn't for everyone, but it was his vision and he was going to see it through. For a lot of people, it worked, and in large part it worked because it had artistic integrity.

Hmmm, ok.
Good post and good comparison with Jay-Z w/ Holy Grail and 4:44.

You'd be surprised alot of them Midwestern teenyboppers are into Lil uzi vert and xxxtentacion. The one's that are keeping eminem afloat are mostly the 30 and up crowd.

Nobody listens to Eminem anymore, record sales of his new album prove that. Die hards copped the album week one and sales dipped ever since. I mean shyt, I was stan before stan and I didn't even cop. Streamed it ONCE and have not played one song since

Good point...I meant to say white teenyboppers who became fans of him when Recovery dropped, which was damn near a decade ago. Feels like that shyt dropped yesterday. Damn, time flies.

He has a slave deal clearly

He's also being marketed with 00s tactics, possibly cause his target audience still checks for CDs through the traditional platforms

Revival flopping will hopefully change that, or it won't :yeshrug:

There's also no Hip Hop cultural component to his rollouts (used to be pop star beefs, gimmick lead singles...now it's 'Murica!!). No interviews with cultural outlets, no appearances, no hype outside of major label approved power moves etc

Nor is there a musical component. No behind the scenes, making of type-media out there. Either because the process is bland and uninteresting, or because they want to hide the real Marshall from us, clearly

Very top-down, machine driven, with little transparency. Very unlike the way rappers get promoted in 2018
