Lets keep it real, white people are the most who but these albums. Over half of black people pirate that shyt. So enough with this argument. Drake wouldn't go plat of it wasn't for white people either

its not that he went plat, but its the volume at which he sold the first week....

Damn shame how true this is.
Except that it's not true at all really. People of all genres are pirated. The sales of certain rap artists drop because they only ever really appealed to black people (thus their audience was smaller before the bootlegging), they were pop artists that never developed a sustainable fanbase, or they do have a sustainable fan base but it is substantially smaller than the superstars. Everyone's sales are down. In 2000 that Justin Timberlake album = 7 mill and Hov and Drake are triple plat. The reason people :smh: at Eminem is that he has a larger core fan base than any other rapper, largely due to the fact that he appeals to people (predominantly) who don't really like rap at all.

It's something that even Macklemore acknowledged about his own success. That's why it's not the early 2000s when you felt the Em was one of the dudes that had the rap game on smash, he's doing numbers now but he has no effect on the actual direction of hip hop. That's why he's had so many verses over the past 4 years about hip hop (as a metaphorical person) ignoring him, etc. The thing is, I can't even say what I want him to rap about.

Damn, you're determined to prove that whites are the only ones who purchase rap, aren't you? Well, let's start somewhere else. According to Nielsen Soundscan, 24.20 million rap albums were sold in the U.S. in 2012.

http://www.statista.com/statistics/188910/us-music-album-sales-by-genre-2010/

Not ONE rap album released in 2012 was platinum by the year's end, so therefore, a large majority of rap purchased was not released that year. You already stated that whites drive the rap 'superstars' album sales. If not one album went platinum by year's end and 24 million rap albums were purchased, are you going to claim its whites going back and buying up all the albums not released that year, outside of the superstars might I add? The 70% figure is bullshyt, plain and simple.

You are arguing a logical fallacy 24.20 million rap albums sold, and no platinum artists sold does not logically imply that the large majority of rap albums purchased that year were not released that year. its just not a logical arguement, it might or might not be true, but you put in 2 facts and just spit out another unrelated statement as fact without any logic.

It doesn't really matter whether they were released that year or not, NO SINGLE RAP ALBUM RELEASED THAT YEAR WENT PLATINUM, SO 24.20 MILLION ALBUMS SOLD MEANS A LARGE PORTION OF THE PURCHASES WAS NOT RELEASED THAT YEAR. To say anything different would mean YOU aren't thinking logically. Try again.

Are you serious or are you trolling? I am not talking logic like 'this is a reasonable assumption' i am talking logic like axiom A in conjunction with premise B implies Lemma C... I guess you dont know how to think logically from a mathematical standpoint, so as a counter example.

Assume 100 different rap artists release albums in 2012
Assume all rap albums released in 2012 sell 250K units in 2012
Assume no rap albums released prior to 2012 sells any units in 2012
QED: 25,000,000 rap albums sold in 2012

There we have a clear simple scenario where,
no single rap album went platinum in 2012
but 25 million rap albums were sold that year
and NOT a large portion of the purchases were released prior to that year

thats what i mean by you are making a logical fallacy
