If this album didn't flop he would've gone with this style. But Infinite was a commercial and critical failure. The Slim Shady shock persona was in reaction to that failure

I actually like the original better, that being said, time has definitely elevated this album because I remember hearing parts of it, maybe around early 97, and not caring for it, though he was definitely a talented lyricist.
