But history tells that jay-z has been collabing with garbage artists too when they were popular so you cant simply claim that renegade collab could have simply been based off the strength of em's lyricism. I'm saying that this has to do more with em's popularity rather than his skills.

Who cares when he's not rapping about anything? Content is a major factor. Someone talking about how many drugs he takes, humping dead animals, and how he strangles himself for fun are all corny. Let's not even go into all of his disturbing songs and lines against women.
