Cool

I am not an American so I am not an expert on the employment laws...

But at the very least they would have to make a good faith effort to show me that the job was serious..certainly a formal job offer before I would just give notice

And certainly if they didnt accord me time to attend to certain things before entering a new position...that would set off warning bells in my head..There just is not anything professional about that

My advice, seek work in another country. This country's corporate culture is in the toilet and 99% of these employers are full of shyt.

Got to always be looking...

The myth that people wont hire you if they see you changing jobs regularly needs to disappear.....

Especially because the people that do the hiring would never hold themselves to the same standard

nikka you are thinking too hard. Just shutup and learn game, fam. If another job offers you a position and asks if you can start immediately, you say yes. You know how many people don't put in their two weeks notice? Lie and leave. Worry about yourself. Fuk your other job.
True.

They know you want to leave anyways. Ask the employer what is their availability. At the same time, if you already bought a plane ticket, telltale hen that as well.

The only thing you may be forfeiting by not giving your current employer 2 week notice is your pay. Most employers require 2-week notice in order to pay you any accrued time.

However, I have been on two interviews where the position was something I really wanted, not just needed. If that's the case you have to bend. Even if you bought a ticket you can tell them it will be cancelled. You have to look at the long-term aspect.

not giving someone an offer because they have to give their current employer 2 weeks notice is not a good sign. op you probably dodged two shytty and unprofessional employers. remember looking for a job is like looking for a girl. don't be desperate and look out for subtle signs cause you could be leaving something decent for something worst even if they pay is a little higher. trust me i've been there.

NEVER BURN BRIDGES. I'm in a job right now I got based on a recommendation from some dude who was an a$$hole but I treated professionally. You never know when you need someone's old recommendation.

2 weeks isn't the law, it's a standard of respect for a former employee. If you cut it short, everyone there will look at it like disrespect.

Yup. Two week is common courtesy. And if you are getting offers for jobs that need you right away either you working at some BS retail or manual labor job or that isn't a place you need to be culturally.

All companies know you need to let your former employer know you got something new.

Most government jobs are BS, so not sure where you are going with that one.

Bruh wtf...

You are an employee...

Employers are your adversary.

Why the fukk do are you leaving more money on the table because of a fukking two weeks notice?

Employers don't give a you a two week notice before they fire your ass.

They don't wait until you find another job before they fire your ass.

If someone needs you to start immediately, and it's more money and you gonna be doing what you wanna do...fukk 'em.

-----

And you live in an at-will state...you can literally be like, I got another job, peace.

Saying you can't start immediately can cost you jobs. If you and somebody who can start immediately have the same creds but you gotta bs around two weeks while person B can start immediately....well you can see where this is going.:usure:

Like somebody said this ain't the 80s. Companies don't care about employees like they used to. Sad but true. Turnover is very real in this day and age. :mjcry:

And they'll gladly give you the axe to keep you from collecting retirement.:snoop:

...."Is your current job needing any notice before you commit to a position?" or a variation of the question :patrice:Been at my current job for about 3 years now and I've had a couple positions call me and ask me this and I always say, " well, yes, 2 weeks....:lupe:" but they usually need a person to start immediately. How is the best way to answer this....I have no idea and its "cost" me about 2-3 positions over the last couple months
Just dealt with this. Tell your current employer you're willing to work out 2 weeks but they would like you to start immediately and ask for 1week or just thug out 2 weeks.

That 2 weeks kinda fun cuz you don't feel obligated to do shyt
