You should get a simple band for an engagement ring, spend about 2k on it, then "upgrade it" for the wedding. You would still want to get quality because you don't want cheap where the stones fall out but 10k is a little much.

Stones falling out is more due to the setting not being right. Happened with wifey's ring at an amusement part We put a bigger moisenite stone back in

Remember, I live in Canada, 3 carats here is . Anyways, for $5K I'm not even smelling a carat based on the style I'm looking at (halo, cushion cut, pave). But we been out so I know what she likes. Just...thinking things through.

The engagement ring is the smaller ring. She's not Kim Kardashian and you're not Kanye so a huge rock for an engagement ring then another huge blingin set for the wedding band is out of the question IMO.

Spending 10k on one ring is absurd. Put that money towards the honeymoon, beginning your home together, a savings account, or something. Just get an engagement ring that's within your means and something she likes. It really shouldn't be about all of that, and if you really did spend 10k on an engagement ring, it better have the wedding band with it. That's just crazy tho, really.

Try focusing on something that she may really like other than the price and the size of the diamond
Example: I like rose gold. If I was to get a rose gold engagement ring, I really wouldn't care about the stone size because I'd be glad that my dude payed enough attention to the fact that I like rose gold.
I would stay away from diamond cuts and cluster rings though

Cut and color. Wifey want one of the pricier styles cuz not only is the diamond in the middle, but it's got the diamonds around it. She has expressed that she would take anything so she not hunting for a big rock, I'm just trying to figure out what I need to get.

Find a diamond dealer in your area that only sells diamonds. Then go to a jewler and find a ring and get the diamond set into it. It's cheaper to piece it all together.

Once you figured that out I would go to the closest Tiffany & Co near you and get your ring

The initial ring I copped for her was from a chain spot, but something told me to check the local places. When I tell you that I told the cat at the local spot that I thought he was selling me glass compared to the chain spot ring, he and I both laughed. I took that piece of shyt back to the chain joint with the quickness.

I spent around 5500 on my wife's shyt back in the early 00s, but it was engagement ring and wedding ring together (PACKAGE DEAL PLAYA!!). Trillian (triangular cut - she's a Delta and it was different than what most other women have/had) cut diamond single carat with platinum base band with diamond accents (same for the wedding band) .
