Enough of the J. Cole hate...it's gotten out of hand...

Yeah, he's an artist I tired to get into, but the songs had that imitation crab meat feel and I wanted some real seafood, b.

On top of that, the horrible single he dropped with accompanying atrocious video in which he was hanging out next to a basketball court with the Bert from Sesame Street unibrow pretty much let me know he was one to pass on.

It's amusing how Kendrick has become the new Outkast, where despite other artists gushing about his talent, a wide swath of fans thinking he makes dope music, and critical acclaim he's going to be the new go-to example for fans of "eh" rappers to use in their "hold up, you like Kendrick Lamar but you don't like cornball rapper 734X-delta98?" threads and posts.

I feel like on the surface I should like Cole more than Kendrick. I don't even really love Kendrick like that. For a westcoast hood nikka, he got a lil cornball hipster in him. I "feel" alot of other rappers more than him in general, but dude has a smart and instinctive approach to making music. Even with his drawbacks(voice & swag) he's a true artist. It seems like he gets in the booth and records music by feel, even if there is already a concept going in. nikka be saying some off the wall shyt in his hooks & bars, but somehow it just works most of the time.

Kendrick executed a masterpiece, I gotta give him love for that. But I can just as easily imagine not liking dude's next project like that. Them extra artistic nikkas can go off the deep end sometimes.

I don't see how Cole is boring. He talks about shyt the average person can relate to. Almost everyone I know like Cole. He had classic mixtapes, a decent album that sold well, sells out shows, but let y'all tell it he is boring and nobody is checking for him. I never head anyone in real life say that he is boring. I only hear this on this site. Its okay if you don't like Cole or think he is boring, but understand he wouldn't be having the success he is having if this was the majority opinion.

I don't have a problem with this. If you don't like him then you don't like him. I disagree that he is makes mediocre music, but I respect your opinion. I just don't respect the people that say he is boring like its a fact, and try to make it seems as if he is not a successful artist.

I don't think nikkas is hating. We look at Cole as one of us who made it, and therefore expect great things from the god. But let's be real, his album was disappointing and gets worse with time IMO. I mean, I'm a huge Cole stan but after hearing Drake's album I felt depressed. I'm not saying it's better than Cole's, but it sounds like a cohesive project with amazing production; it's a "big" sounding album. Kendrick just dropped an album that also sounds like a "big" album, and shyts on Sideline Story....

I think Cole needs to ditch the almost poppy piano beats, weak drums, and weak bass and get with some producers who can amplify his sound. He needs someone like Just Blaze to executive produce his shyt so that it sounds as lush and full as possible. I know he can drop an album that sounds as good as Kendrick or Drake's album (musically) and even trump Kendrick on the socially conscious tip. He's got so much shyt to talk about, growing up mixed with a mother on drugs among other things. But please Jermaine, do it over some lush ass beats.

The god needs an intervention. We're all rooting for him

Dude seemed to ran out of gas and used his best material on his mixtapes instead of his debut. It lacked songs and verses that made you go def one of the most disappointing debuts in awhile.
