Facts

One of the many things I love about Cuban Linx is that after every time I listen to it, I hear something new from it. It’s like watching The Godfather. You notice a new detail or layer to it after every listen.

That album really captures a moment in time so perfectly. There’s not a single flaw on it.

FACTS!

It's definitely like watching The Godfather. Every time I watch that, I see something I missed the other 492 times I've seen it.

OB4CL is just like that! The production on that was genius. I'm still baffled by the sh*t RZA was able to do on there. He was like a mad scientist!

Yup, exactly

It’s like every time you watch (The Godfather) or listen to Cuban Linx, you walk away with a whole new appreciation for it because of its profound abundance of layers of detail

Right?! From the songs and movies that he sampled to how the album is sequenced. Everything just works and fits so perfectly together. Cuban Linx is 1 of 1.

RZA was only a couple years into being known behind the boards, and even as a kid, I was like, "This dude is one of the best ever!" That's how crazy he was on production. He shot right up to the top of my GOAT list, and he wasn't even around that long.

I used to think anybody in Wu who was getting outside production in the early days, was out of their mind, lol.

Nah. RZA needs to do my whole album!

That’s the other thing, he was just getting started and already out the gate he was just producing classics left and right and changing the game. Dude was just that gifted and talented.

I understand why. You hear some shyt like Cuban Linx or 36 Chambers and it’s like a mind trip! It’s like where the fukk did this shyt come from?!

Same! lol

I ain’t understand how they could start stepping out and getting outside production.

Chef said he "didn't need" RZA for his second album. Buggin'!!

Right?!:russ:

The irony is he needed him the most out of all the members that dropped the first round of solos :pachaha:

I wish Rae would’ve let RZA handle the production on Immobilarity.

RZA said he started working on the second album, but then they started arguing and bickering over random sh*t. And that's when Rae went off and put together his own production team, lol.

That second album probably let me down more than any other album in history.

Gang violence...
I think 36 Chambers has higher highs, especially the nostalgia, but Cuban Linx is more consistent. I'd probably choose Cuban Linx, but an album with Cream, Chessboxin, Protect Your Neck, Method Man, Bring Da Ruckus etc. is just so classic.

I'd take Liquid Swords over both, though.
my thoughts exactly

Smh

Rae should’ve swallowed his pride, ironed out all his differences with RZA and then moved forward with working with him. That wasn’t the time to be bickering over stupid, random things.

Man we can only imagine what the album would’ve sounded like had Rae let RZA produce Immobilarity. The whole vibe of that album was off and it goes to show the significance of a real producer behind an album.

Truth.

I think Ironman was the last time I saw RZA as untouchable.

"The Faster Blade" came on shuffle the other day, and Chef killed that! That could've been the kinda heat he had for his second album. I'm sure he thinks about it too. LOL!!

I just posted that OB4CL was a true classic....

Faster Blade one of my few "perfect" rap songs.

may have to add this to my "Perfect Songs" playlist.

Rae is just so...... sharp (no pun, maybe) here. It's almost like RZA told him to enunciate clearer, then EQ'ed every bar to fit.

The chimes so clear over the kick and snare, folks :dwillhuh: when you drive by listening to it

then the subs is so deep you don't even register it over wack speakers. Car, earphone or otherwise. And it's placed perfectly.

"Broke nikkas? Spot 'em like Cascade in the streets..
Masquerade...
Faster Blade.

BOOUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM"

I can't state it enough: Early RZA was on some OTHER shyt.

lets not act like there aren’t a lot of tough songs on immobilarity.

the biggest issue, one which i’m also guilty of, is that people expected the same sound as what we heard on only built for cuban linx.

but immobilarity had heat like sneakers and other cuts that still go hard to this day.
