Bret and Vince were still on good terms at that point with Vince even telling Bret to go to WCW to make the money he deserves. Bret is also old school as hell so him throwing the belt in the trash wouldnt have been his style.

Seems more like a coked up Shawn thing to do actually :usure:

Yeah right, that snake muthafukka would of had Bret all up on Nitro trashing the belt, spray painting it and shyt :laff:

Talking about "wow I'm stunned :troll:"

:laff:

"If you're thinking about turning to the World Whining Federation, don't bother. Bret Hart is just going to walk out and surrender the belt. :troll:"

Didn't WCW want Mike Awesome to throw his ECW title in the trash in 2000?

Now I know Bischoff wasn't in charge then but it shows they weren't bothered by throwing rival belts in the bushes.

Answered your own question. Bischoff wasn't in charge so it would have been someone else's final call whether to risk a lawsuit to make that scenario happen. And ECW would have immediately filed a lawsuit against WCW and Turner for it.

Bret didn't have to bring the physical belt to WCW. It was understood he was WWF champion already, he coulda been the real worlds champ and build to him vs Sting and do it the right way. Bischoff spent his time in power mostly doing dance moves on Hulk Hogans dikk to consider what's best for business. WCW should have released Hulk after jobbing to Goldberg and dared Vince to take him back smack dab in the middle of the attitude era

Anyone who believes Bischoff here has to be either the markiest of marks or just hates Bret THAT much.

Bret's contract didn't start until December 5th that year; he still had another month to drop the belt (and, if I remember correctly, he actually asked Bischoff to push his start date back just in case he needed to drop the belt at the next PPV). Also, he was continually contributing suggestions to get the belt off of him before his WCW contract started, as long as he didn't get beat by Michaels (and given that Michaels flat out said that he wouldn't lose to him after Bret tried to clear the air, he was justified in doing a whole lot more than just not losing to Michaels). People keep talking about Bret possibly breaching contract and making a legal mess out of the Screwjob, when they fail to understand that VINCE was the one who actually breached contract by screwing Bret out of the title (violation of Bret's creative control clause) and could have caused real problems for the WWF had Bret chosen to pursue that course of action.

Also, by all accounts except Bischoff's, it was BISCHOFF that wanted Bret to bring the title to WCW and Bret refused.

These are accounts both contributed and confirmed by multiple sources, rather than Bischoff's fantasies regarding the issue. Stop listening to whatever jackass decides to open their mouth about the Screwjob and start reading and watching (I swear, people act as if Wrestling With Shadows just doesn't exist or something) the extant accounts of the situation. Maybe annoying threads like this would stop getting made.

100% facts. Bret had nearly another month left on his contract, and it was outlined clearly in the deal that he had joint creative control with Vince to close the contract. Bret first offered to lose the belt to Austin that next month, then offered to lose to Taker, then offered to lose to Shamrock, then offered to lose to shawn or anyone else the next night. Vince had options, Shawn faced Taker at the rumble anyway, having Bret drop the belt to Taker in December would have gotten WWF to the same spot.

Different times, this post after WWE successfully sued the WCW for the razor/diesel gimmicks

Nah breh, no they didn't.

Cokeboy was plotting to buy out WCW for a long azz time, and him dropping that lawsuit was the sneaky beginning to the financial takeover. It's pretty slick.

This coming from a "I lost my smile" stan :laff:
HBGOAT talked his way out of doing certain jobs, granted, but he never said he'd rather lose to Brooklyn Brawler than lose to a top guy like The Markman did
