Finally got around to watching this.
I remember all this shyt vividly. Was during my senior year in high school so I was plenty old enough to remember watching it all. I remember the surprise ratings that first week and how that shyt just kept plummeting every week.
It seems very apparent that the NFL sought every way to make sure this wasn't a success (really, the power goes out the very next week after record ratings. Having the media shyt on the league every chance they get, etc.), but that's not the only reason it failed. Had there been quality football when 54 milli were watching, it could have faired better. They rushed the beginning of this, putting teams and coaches and players together in a few months and shyt. Two preseason games for a bunch of players who have never played together.
But it's funny how the NFL stole so much shyt from the XFL. All that production that's used today is crazy.
Yep the NFL stole a lot from them and I believe then as I believe to this day the NFL was using writers to carry their water and openly hating on the XFL.
Also the reason NBC signed up for the XFL was because they lost the AFC NFL games to CBS (fox originally took NFC games from CBS then CBS took AFC games from NBC) so they were desperate to get back into professional football.
Also the XFL had games on cable too. Can't remember what network it was might have been TNT or TBS but I can't remember. Also TNT and The use to get 8 Thursday or Sunday night games that they split with ESPN back in the day before Mickey hoe ass bought ESPN.
Finally after the first XFL was over they were contemplating having kids go straight from high school to the XFL with the ability to pass up college. This would have been a serious threat to the NFL and the NCAA which ain't nothing but a free farm league for the hoe ass NFL.
So taking that into consideration you have to be nuts to not think the NCAA and NFL didn't try to pull some strings to make sure the XFL didn't get back on tv or just disappeared as a whole.
Remember the NFL loaned the CFL money saying that the CFL can never have major network contract in the US. And that they could never relocate a team to the US or have expansion into the US.
