Somebody like James Franklin would've been a better fit when it comes to dealing with all the off field stuff that comes with coaching at Texas.

Like others have said it won't matter if Strong wins.

Stoops, Briles can barely put two sentences together but they get a pass for being "old school" football coaches. This article really pisses me off but it keeps coming up that the staff isn't clicking with some coaches around the state.

I'll give you Briles, dude is country as an egg...........but Stoops is a good speaker....he just doesn't like doing it, and when he gets mad he keeps things really short.

Really all that matters is when it comes to recruiting time and being abe to sweet talk them

Too be honest should they even care about recruiting tho, they was getting top 5 classes those last couple of years with Mack Brown and was still straight ass cheeks.

:lolwtf:

You guys are trippin if you think this puts a dent in Charlie Strong as a coach or football mind in any way, shape or form. Dude is legit. Who the fukk cares about some press conference... When it comes to college football, specifically defense, there are few better.

We talking about Texas Longhorns football... Simple Jack could recruit a NC-caliber squad. Kids don't get "convinced" to play football at UT. They just do
:usure: So, A&M ain't kicking they ass in recruiting this year? Y'all really under rating Mack Brown's recruiting ability.

So much bull in this thread about coach Strong it's laughable. I've talked to three coaches at length about Charlie Strong and none of them had nothing but good things to say about him. One of the was Coach Holmes at John Tyler who is an Okie St. grad said he would help coach Strong recommend talent for coach Strong all over East Texas and not just John Tyler. He said he came away very impressed with Coach Strong, and was looking forward to visiting Strong in Austin to go over the offense Texas would be installing.

Coach Claude Mathis at Desoto who was a big fan of Mack Brown is a fan of Strong so far, but some of the football players are down on UT as a whole because of the struggles on the field, but Mathis said he loves everything coach Strong stands for. I've also gotten to talk to some of the coaches at Colleyville Heritage and they had nothing to say but positive things about coach Strong.

I don't know who all these coaches are who have bad things to say about Strong, but I'm betting it's a bias against the university in the first place. I will admit I asked all the coaches about A&M and they all had nothing but good things to say about Kevin Sumlin as well, but they expected Charlie Strong to do well at Texas

Stoops is a good speaker? I've never seen him come off charming, even after victories. Saban has improved recently, but he used to be a complete anti-social dikk. But you know how Texans are, very sensitive people. Texans get offended about the littlest things and doing the whole smoozing thing is a big part of UT culture.

Problem for him is that A&M sees a chance to crush them like never before and they are going all in with it. Plus Sumlin can work a room.

The TCU route doesn't win you championships. You have to have top recruits and top coaching to win titles. Right now, we're getting killing recruiting. I'm not sure what the disconnect is but it's strange how little momentum the Strong hire has created in the state.

Bob just doesn't like doing it. Like Saban, he pretty much hates the idea of ppl who have never coached or played asking him stuff or questioning his decisions. He has his favorite media members that he'll yuk it up with on occasion.

I met Stoops a couple times that I can recall, and once my parents came up to visit me and my dad saw him Wal-Mart(of all places) and talked to him. LOL

But alot of these guys won't show their real self to the media b/c they have to appear stone-faced, b/c when something goes wrong the media will use that against them. I'm sure Strong knows how to play the "game", somewhat even at Texas

I heard Olberman say Belichick was one of the funniest ppl he's ever met. Had me like :wtf:

The boosters and t-shirt fans are just bitter that they couldn't get Sumlin. Texas is so damn arrogant. I wanna see the ratings for that Longhorn network :mjlol:

Not a good speaker...ok. Granted the Texas job in many ways is like being the leader of a political party, and you need to make connections to win HS recruits, coaching talent, etc...but ultimately Strong's job is to win football games. If he does that, no one will give a shyt about his bad speeches except boosters.

:what: You serious nikka?

he just had 4 players drafted in the first 3 rounds in this years draft. he coached one of the best defense in recent history at florida(joe haden, carlos dunlap, major wright, jermaine cunningham, brandon spikes) if any current big 12 coach comes close, its stoops.

scary thing about strong is he doesn't rely on 5* recruits to compete like mack did. those louisville players were mainly 3* and he turned them into pros. its gonna be scary what he can do in the state of texas in a few years.
