Then ESPN is destined to become a network of Mike & Mikes...cornball personalities who don't have strong opinions.

I don't watch First Take but with all the backlash against that show, I wonder if Skip or Stephen A would be candidates to do radio. They need somebody with star power in that time

Stephen A and Skip are the ultimate company men...they do what they're told. It's a big reason why radio is dying....suits have taken over out of fear of pissing off their advertisers. Hopefully everyone with talent moves to satellite. I was never a Howard fan but he had the right idea.

radio now:

scripted segment pitting something vs something
commercial
athlete guest...boring as boring can be
commercial
another comparison followed by a cheap cliffhanger into commercial

That's why I fukked with Colin & his show...besides his most recent bullshyt comments, he had a smart format and was engaging enough as a host to make it work. He let callers call in, had smart interviews and had strong opinions. He played the corporate game too, but it played well on radio/ESPNU. IDK what I'll watch in that time slot on ESPN or if Fox & Colin will go directly at ESPN in that same time slot

I didnt listen to Colin all that often but if he was doing a decent topic I'd listen in my car to pass the time...his show was at least listenable. I found myself plenty of times just laughing at some of his assumptions that were over the top preposterous...but he was at least entertaining. Mike and Mike is so bad.

I'm with those saying let's not have another Mike & Mike sanitized, safe, captain obvious opinions to replace Colin.. That Dominicans comment was unacceptable but his show was entertaining

ESPN is becoming more about the personalities and not the sports reporting.
Its cool but if you have people like colin fukking up for so long the network looks kinda suspect

Colin knows his stuff, he has moments where he takes the troll mask off but these aren't very often which always bit him in the ass in the end. Such as his irrational hate for Aaron Rodgers, still down played it when he won a SB. I didn't listen to his Platano rant. I think he saw this coming and said phuck it.
