Why is that teams can restructure contracts if someone under performs but that same person would have to hold out if they over perfom?

Because they have the power and the money . Teams and players aren't on equal terms breh. Guys can still refuse to restructure and they at least have the option to hold out. Ain't not Steph Curry's stuck at $12 mil a year watching everybody and they mama cash out for 3 years while you making history every season in the NFL. It comes down to what you value more...guarantees or betting on yourself.

Last year NFL had 13 billion in revenue, NBA had 4 billion, hell MLB brings in more revenue than the NBA.

Well you do have to consider the roster sizes. Getting $20 mil a year as 1/53rd of a roster ain't the same as $20 mil a year as 1/15th. It's apples to oranges in regards to individual salaries. IMO it's more fair to allow teams and players to get out of bad deals and to allow guys to make whatever they can negotiate and teams to pay whatever they deem reasonable rather than a predetermined amount.
