ESPN has a 'SportsCenter' problem, not a hockey problem

they dont show hockey because they dont have the contract. they never gave a fukk about soccer highlights until they started airing soccer. been that way for years. when they showed hockey games on the network, they had a nightly hockey tonight show, along with segments on sportscenter

sportscenter doesnt even show the highlights from every nba game or every college basketball game. Sportscenter is only an hour show.i watched sportcenter last night and they showed the Chicago Blackhawks highlights and had barry Melrose on giving commentary. what else do u want? Sportcenter also showed soccer highlights (Real Madrid) and had a big segment of Major league baseball's Spring Training games. And how can u say that people didnt give a shyt about Tour de France when Lance Armstrong was in the top 10 of the most popular pro athletes in the past 10 years.

How can you not cover every NBA game but can talk about Tebow or whoever is news worthy at the time and spend 15 minutes of sportscenter going over that instead of covering actually game results. Thats my problem with ESPN it's not even about Hockey not getting coverage it will always be behind NBA, MLB, and NFL to me just like it is to you but still cover sports because that's what you do not pick and choose whats popular at the moment thats not what that show was built on.

whats sad is that it was always business, its just the consumers priorities changed. the consumers went from wanting to see actual game highlights and summaries to being 'entertained'

Its why they dont talk much baseball during the playoffs because they dotn carry the mlb playoffs

It's weird. We've been gettin collectively stupider gradually all the way up to this current state. No disrespect man, but u are coming off as extremey ignorant and misinformed. Do I see a problem with what? Do u realize that Sportscenter is only an hour long show. There is no way they could show highlights of all 32 NBA games every night and show al college basketball highlights.

Are u aware of the tv shows on espn, Baseball tonight, NBA live, NFL live? All of those shows are solely dedicated to those sports. They even have entire networks dedicated to each sport, even Hockey. You just seem upset that Hockey doesn't get the coverage that MLB, NBA and the NFL does. ESPN Sportscenter is more than just the sports and highlights, its about storylines and tapping into the emotional and more human side of sports. The storylines of the sport are captivating.

I can't believe people are complaining about watching SportsCenter. The show is shyt and if you're not watching the opening segment of whatever was the biggest event the night before, what are you watching for?

All the other sports channels have their own networks.
Your local sports networks likely also have a highlight show.
You can even hit the league websites for highlights as well.

So why are you waiting on Sportscenter or watching that shyt? They don't even do proper analysis or interviews and are heavy on their skits and personality building exercises. Why are you watching that?

I agree with pretty much everything in the thread regarding ESPN. So how do we get our Sportscenter back brehs? do we all start spamming them with emails? I'll do what it takes and ride for the cause but we all gotta be together on it.

In Canada Sportscentre is 90% hockey 10% other sports. If u want unwatchable try watching that. Ill take SAS screaming about random shyt over that any day

Just like downloadable music and videos on youtube means that MTV is never returning to the video format, league-specific networks, highlights on league-specific websites, etc. means that the old SportsCenter is never coming back. You can get that stuff elsewhere. Only on ESPN can you get their shytty brand of entertainment and PR stories, which there is apparently a huge market for in this country.

I think this is just a case of deal with it and move on.
